Week 10 Power Rankings

Are we really in week 10? wow... that's crazy, anyway here's some power rankings and enjoy the superbowl. The Panthers will be right back to take it from y'all next week.

13. Meyers (-1)
0-8
It seemed like it was coming together, it seemed like they were primed for their first win of the year. They were playing with heart, and they looked far better than they did week 1. Then... they played this week. and got obliterated by a struggling team. The good news for them is, Joey Femia may make his return this season. He's 100% out of this week, but next week he may make his second debut. It'll take a lot of pressure off of David and they can play a better brand of team basketball. There's something magical about the 13 spot, maybe they can turn it around and rise, plus with the return of Joey they can trand way upward before playoffs.

12. McNamara (+1)
2-6
I planned on moving them up a little more, but the fact is they beat the last place team, I'm not completely sold. They have been playing well lately, and I think they are capable of rising even higher next week. They've been one of the league's best on the defensive teams. It's on the offensive end I have my doubts. Whether or not Peter White comes back for playoffs may tell this teams story, but whether he does come back or not, I will say this, they are playing their best at the right time.  Another win this week will sell on me on this team for a decent rise, but for now I'm keeping them near the bottom despite the win.

11. Hecht (-1)
2-6
This week was really bad timing for a bye week. They were coming off back to back great games, and this team has been streaking, and up and down this year, and it'll be interesting to see if they come back with that same power they had before, or they struggle after the week off.

10. Gingras (-1)
1-7
The bad news is they didn't come away with the win, the good news is this the third week in a row they have played a good team to the wire. Maybe Meyers doesn't qualify (sorry) but Bernard and Booth are two legitimate teams, so play close with them is a pretty good sign. Obviously at the end of the day these are still losses, and losing by 30 and losing by 6 shows up the same on the standings tab, but in terms of the eye test, this team is starting to play a lot better, and could even make a legitimate run come playoff time. Slowly but surely this team is starting to rise up and look for real.

9. O'Wiley (+2)
3-5
They're one of three teams that I just have no idea how to rank. They played amazing with 5 players against a good team. They should have picked up a win last week, but all of a sudden in 5 minutes they just collapsed. So what do I do now? Where do I put you guys? I decided to kind of keep y'all put, with optimism you will rise. On one hand what they did with just just 5 people against a good team is remarkable. Then again, they blew a huge lead, that they should not have blown, I can't really reward them for that. So I figured 9 is an alright spot for them, but it's very very likely they move up in the upcoming week.

8. Majkut (-)
4-5
This is team number two, where do I put y'all? On one hand, they played a hot team really tough, they had a strong comeback effort and barely couldn't finish them off. They have a few key players playing at their best, and from the eye test they look solid. On the other hand they have now lost two in a row in games they had a chance at, but were unable to finish. Their attendance is just a straight up mystery, and they lost this week to a team they were probably better then. So now what? Is it up or down from here? I think up I lean toward up I'm just not sure, there's a missing piece here I can't quite figure out.

7. Zolomon (-2)
4-4
And we reach team number three. Well guys are you good or not it's really hard to tell. The score of their last game doesn't tell the story of it. That being said, they still lost and lost by a significant margin. This team reaches the enigma point as they have played at extreme highs and extreme lows. The stat remains they are 3-0 with 7+ players and 1-4 with 6- players. Tristan Chase will be an interesting piece to the puzzle of this team. It'll be interesting what they do against Team Strauss who have quietly been one of the elite teams this year. This game could make or break the Zolomon season.

6. Bernard/Hastings (-3)
6-3
Too big a drop? Maybe they lost to a good team, and they didn't play terrible or anything. The fact is the teams above them just played better. They were in a hot chase for that number 2 spot, then an unexpected loss changed everything. All of the sudden this once red hot team seems far less menacing. They now play a hungry Majkut team, and an intriguing matched Zolomon team, and this could put them in a very odd place before the playoffs. They'll need at least one win in the next two weeks to stop them from spiraling towards the bottom. I have faith, I know they're good, but they'll need to show it.

5. Strauss (+1)
6-3
So this team has some pros and cons. The cons are simple, they haven't been playing up to their ceiling in the past three weeks. It hasn't been bad, and even through this "skid" they still have been one of the most consistent teams in the league, and they look fine on the eye test. The good news is they still look they can peak at the right time. This team is playing like the only who has a shot at Manzi. They play the best team basketball in the league, and they are able to grind out wins no matter what the scenario is. They now find themselves in a big time statement game against Zolomon, to see if they can rise.

4. TeDuits/Estes (+3)
4-4
What a confusing team. They seem to win the games they should lose and lose the games they should win. They are the NC State of our league. Sure go on and beat Bernard and Strauss no problem, but Booth and Zolomon? Nah. They look lethal on the defensive end, they're not getting around that, and they balance it out with some offensive contributions and they can make a serious run at the title. This is the only team in the league where it's just as realistic that they get out in the first round as it is they win the championship. I'm intrigued on whether or not they can take advantage of a favorable schdule to finish the season off, as they can enter the playoffs one of the hottest teams in the league.

3. Booth (+1)
7-1
Wow 7-1... is that right? Wow good for them. The scary part is they keep winning these games and I don't even think they're playing their best. They've had some trouble finishing near the hoop. but they rebound better than any other team in the league, so they use that to their advantage. They're hard to get an exact read on. Very similar to Team Bernard/Hastings they play down to their opponents, and play up to them as well, however they seem to win games more convincingly. I think it's time to stop sleeping on them, and accept them as a force in this league. Wouldn't be surprised to see them in the two spot next week.

2. Southwick (-)
6-3
It wasn't the prettiest game they've played, but six straight wins is six straight wins. Elias Jiser is proving himself as a superstar, and this team is proving they can gut out wins. This game had all of the tell tale signs of a collapse, but then there was some magic on their side. Usually when a team blows a lead to send a game to OT, they don't win. There's something special about this team. They have destiny on their side or something I'm not really sure what it is. We'll see if they can keep the win streak alive against O'Wiley, then they have one more against Zolomon before the bye. It'll be interesting.

1. Manzi (-6)
12-0
Should we wait for the season end or should we just call it now? (I'm trying to jynx y'all if it's not obvious). There's a lot of buzz about the Southwick 6 game win streak, but lowkey Mazni is on a 9 game win streak. They're just in a tier of their own, and I don't see them losing. You never know though, teams like Teduits/Estes and Strauss, have the better chemistry, and Southwick and Booth are both playing at their best late, anything is possible. As for this team however, they should take it as a huge compliment that I'm using their power rankings spot to encourage other teams that there's a chance they don't go undefeated and to jynx them.
