The baller of the week is Kyle Plausse. He put up 30 in a showdown vs. Team Hastings, and came up with a win that no one expected outside of Team Townsend. Easily the biggest upset of this young season.
Honorable mention: Sam Boudreau

Week 3 Results
Southwick vs. Keast/Kimetto
45-37
45-37
This was a very accurate prediction. KK came out hot and took an early lead, but that was before Zack Millett got rolling in his much anticipated debut. Despite Keast shaking off some of the rust and now looking like 80% of his old self, the second half surge of Team Southwick was too much to withstand, capped off by a buzzer-beating layup for team captain Harrison Southwick for his 3rd and 4th points of the season.
Strauss vs. Jarboe
55-43
Maybe we should sleep on Jarboe. This game was supposed to be the game of the week, but once again Strauss came out and took care of business with ease. Perhaps a humbling loss for Team Jarboe will get them to keep their mouths shut (Simon) and focus more on playing good team ball.
Willson/Dzwonek vs. Booth
57-43
Team Willson won a game! No longer will they be in the basement of the league, as they actually looked pretty decent in their first dub of the season. Ben Rivet was able to contain Matty Bo, and that's all it seems to take to dismantle Team Booth.
Sellers vs. Manzi
40-55
Sam Boudreau was dominant again, and Manzi was able to pull out an easy W this week. As Sam continues to get familiar with his teammates and their tendencies, this team only gets stronger. As for Sellers, two losses in a row does not look good for their power ranking positioning, as they have gotten off to a rather disappointing start.
Townsend vs. Hastings
70-65
WOW. No one predicted this, and on behalf of everyone in the blog administration, we'd like to issue a formal apology to Kyle Plausse for doubting Team Townsend in this uphill battle. Kyle dropped a 30-piece on the top-ranked team in the league, and led an absolute offensive outpouring in the most exciting game of the week.

Week 3 Game Predictions
Southwick vs. Keast/Kimetto
45-32
Both of these teams were left reeling after embarrassing blowout losses last week, and will no doubt come into this matchup with a massive chip on their shoulders. However, the addition of sophomore bigman Zach Millett to Team Southwick will no doubt elevate their overall performance tenfold. Unless Jeremy Keast can stop playing like a total bum and actually score more than 9 points for once, expect an easy win for Southwick.
Strauss vs. Jarboe
46-44
This is for sure the matchup of the week: the #2 and #3 teams facing off in what we all hope will be an all-time rec ball classic. The deadly guard trio of Watkins, teDuits, and Chandler will put up their best effort against a stout Strauss defense led by DPOY frontrunner Dougie Thompkins. I'm expecting a true back-and-forth game with multiple lead changes, but at the end of the day, I believe Team Jarboe will go down at the mercy of a magnificent offensive performance from superstar-in-the-making Jack Blount.
Willson/Dzwonek vs. Booth
34-52
Coming off their bye, Matty "Bo Binks" Cota and Team Booth will be anxious to come out and deliver a statement win in a matchup vs. Willson/Dzwonkek, who have already earned themselves the reputation as far and away the league's worst team. Expect nothing short of a stellar showcase from Cota, who underwhelmed in his first game but is looking to prove to himself and his detractors that he is a varsity-level player. Although Team WD will hit their fair share of outside shots, their defensive woes will prove too much to overcome.
Sellers vs. Manzi
60-65
On paper, it appears that Team Manzi is clearly the superior squad in terms of pure talent. On the contrary, I believe Sam Boudreau and Bradley teDuits will have a tough time defending the likes of Alex Sellers and Jake Scharn, two lengthy and deceivingly athletic big men who can score inside at will and love to crash the boards. Ultimately, Team Manzi will prevail in a fast-paced shootout, as Sam Boudreau, especially with the extra rest he was afforded due to the afternoon game time, will likely put up a 40 piece.
Townsend vs. Hastings
32-74
Let's be honest; this game won't be competitive from the jump. Team Townsend's star point guard Kyle Plausse will do his best to produce some sort of offense for his squad, but there's not a chance he or anyone else will be able to slow down Hastings' dynamic offensive attack. I don't really have much else to say about this game other than that Chris Smith, Max Phanord, and Lil Bush will dominate once again en route to their third straight victory.

Week 3 Power Rankings
11. Willson/Dzwonek (-)
Another blowout loss for this team. Although Lamare put in his best effort this week, Willson still came up short. Unless this team wants to climb the rankings in the weeks to come, then the rest of the team will have to help out Matt.
10. Townsend (-)
Hank the Zank is still yet to make an appearance this rec season, which might be the only positive thing going for Team Townsend at this point. At this point, all this team can do is look to Kyle Plausse, have him pick up his backpack, and start carrying.
9. Keast/Kimetto (-1)
Alex Castellano scored 0 points, including a stretch of 4 consecutive possessions where he did not pass once and turned the ball over all 4 times. That, along with a terrible shooting outing can sum up Team KK's week, and they'll have to establish some sort of rhythm before we lose faith in this squad.
8. Booth/Dorr (+1)
Not much to say about this team as they had a bye this past week. They should get an easy win over the runt of the league, Team Willson.
7. Southwick (-5)
A devastating loss in week two drops Team Southwick down several ticks. Harrison Southwick is ("shockingly") still terrible. Week after week the league grows impatient waiting for his breakout performance. We will see what they can do week 3 with the addition of Zach Millet to the team.
6. Sellers (-2)
Sellers started out their season strong but still lost to McNamara in overtime. The sleeper of the league, Jamie Smith, looks to be a menace so far. Although Alex Sellers and Jake Scharns performances were underwhelming in their first game it is clear that if a big three might emerge in the league and take over the spot of McNamara's three.
5. McNamara (+2)
McNamara fought hard Week 2 and came out with a well-deserved win. This team proved they were capable of scary things during times of their game. Kasey Griffiths yet again played a solid game and has proved himself to be a true force on the court.
4. Manzi (+1)
The lead MVP candidate, Sam Boudreau, is looking as good as ever as he carried Team Manzi to their first win of the season. Coach Will "Bursa" Manzi is instituting his no mercy play style early on. This team is drawing success from all depths of their roster so far. They look to improve to 2-1 this week as they take on the 1-0 Team Sellers.
3. Strauss (-)
Team Strauss looked impressive again in Week 2, with Dougie Tompkins surging to the top of the DPOY polls after a phenomenal overall performance, exposing washed-up bum Jeremy "Ugly Kid" Keast. Also, Jack Blount is the real deal.
2. Jarboe (+4)
No more sleeping on Jarboe. Despite their goofy appearance on paper, this team knows how to play, you just have to see it to believe it. They're full of athletes and have displayed remarkable chemistry thus far. They're always on the same page on the court, and that alone is frightening.
1. Hastings (-)
No surprise here. After two weeks, Hastings stays on top. They put up 76 points, and the pairing of Max Phanord and Chris Smith appears to truly be an all-time duo.
10. Townsend (-)
Hank the Zank is still yet to make an appearance this rec season, which might be the only positive thing going for Team Townsend at this point. At this point, all this team can do is look to Kyle Plausse, have him pick up his backpack, and start carrying.

Week 2 Results
Townsend vs. Jarboe
45-57
The trio of Andrew Watkins, Colin teDuits, and Simon Chandler proved too much for Kyle Plausse and Team Townsend to handle as Team Jarboe was able to pull off a decisive victory in this week's early morning game. Chandler finished with a career-high 18 points, while Max "The Tummy" Jarboe sunk his first career three pointer. Plausse put up an impressive 25 in a losing effort.
Southwick vs. Manzi
40-63
An upset to say the least, Team Manzi put together a spectacular all-around performance to take down #2 ranked and thought-to-be powerhouse Team Southwick. Sam Boudreau had a typical MVP performance, dropping 33 easy points and eclipsing double digit rebounds. Sophomore guard Will Bordes had himself a day, hitting 3 three-pointers and playing great man-to-man D. The key to Manzi's win, however, was Bradley teDuit's unbelievable defensive performance, as he kept Southwick's star point guard Jack Barry in check from the get-go.
Sellers vs. McNamara
43-50
The debut of Team Sellers did not disappoint. Although they were unable to get the win, the match featured a remarkable comeback for Sellers, which was capped off by two huge free throws from Donny Partridge to tie the game with 3 seconds left, sending it into overtime. In OT, McNamara took care of business, and was able to put this one away. Sleeper pick Jamie Smith poured in 23 in the effort, while Kasey Griffiths dropped a team-high 16 in the McNamara win.
Strauss vs. Keast/Kimetto
50-23
The first half of this game was a total slugfest, with neither team able to find a rhythm on offense. In the final 16 minutes, however, Team Strauss turned on the afterburners, blowing KK out the water and outscoring them 33-13. Rising star Jack Blount led his squad with an efficient 18. DPOY frontrunner Dougie Thompkins was instrumental in the victory, holding former varsity standout Jeremy Keast to single digits.
Willson/Dzwonek vs. Hastings
53-76
This game was exactly what you might expect from a #1 vs. #11 matchup. Team Hastings was simply unstoppable on the offensive side of the ball and frankly, every team in the league should be scared of them. Chris Smith and Max Phanord are legitimate superstars, with the former putting up 27 effortless points. Grant "Gillsie" Willsie has proven to be especially valuable, having himself another double-double. Matt Lamarre's solid 20-point performance was the only thing that kept this game from becoming a complete nightmare for Team WD.

Week 2 Baller of the Week
Our Week 2 Baller of the Week goes to Sam Bourdeau. Sam had himself a day dropping 33 points in a huge blowout win. Those in the stands were able to watch Sam finagle everyone in his path.
Honorable Mentions: Chris Smith, Jamie Smith, Simon Chandler, Kasey Griffiths, Jack Blount, and Bradley teDuits
A special honorable mention goes out to Will "Hank" Zinkann who greatly helped his team out by sleeping through his alarm.

Week 2 Predictions
Townsend vs. Jarboe
35-45
Team Jarboe is feeling hot coming off of a Week 1 swamping and is looking to carry that momentum into their game against Team Townsend. Although Townsend was a little lack-luster in their performance last week, they will have back their first round pick, Kyle Plausse. I'd have the score closer if not for league renowned Bubonic Plague, Will "Hank the Zank" Zinkann.
Southwick vs. Manzi
53-49
This game will be close for sure. The highly anticipated duel of the quarterbacks will make for a good game. Both teams will have to give it there all to gain any sort of lead, and neither Sam or Bradley are known for having back to back mediocre weeks. However, I give this Week 2 win to Team Southwick due to the unrivaled coach-player bond of Harrison Southwick and Jack Barry trumping that of Will Manzi and Bradley Teduits.
Sellers vs. McNamara
44-38
I anticipate a win from Team Seller's in their season debut. McNamara is coming straight off a crushing defeat and will be looking to redeem themselves in their Week 2 match up. While both teams have two of the biggest rosters in the league, the depth of Seller's roster outmatches that of McNamara.
Strauss vs. Keast
38-43
The outcome of this game was hard to decide on for a couple of reasons, but ultimately I believe that Team KK will prevail. It is extremely hard to contain former Varsity player, Jeremy Keast. Although I do have faith that Dougie Tompkins will be able to limit his scoring, it will require a full team effort to subdue his excellent court vision. If Strauss can completely shutdown Keast on defense then there is a possibility that their young cast can take the win. However, I do not see this happening.
Willson vs. Hastings
39-55
There is not much to say about this match up. Based off of last week's results and power rankings, this game should be a blowout. Team Willson will have to dig deep to contain the league's most powerful back court. In the end expect Hastings to improve to 2-0 and Willson to fall to 0-2.

Week 2 Power Rankings
With the first weekend of games behind us, we have some MAJOR shakeups in the power rankings!
11. Willson/Dzwonek (-3)
After an absolutely miserable offensive performance vs. an undermanned Team Jarboe, it is hard to be optimistic about this squad's chances of putting together a winning season. It doesn't help their cause that the backcourt duo of James Willson and Stevie D appeared outmatched in every phase of the game. Unless sophomore big man Matt Lamarre can start stringing together MVP-level performances, it'll be difficult for this team to escape from the bottom of the rankings as the season goes on.
10. Townsend (-)
It's difficult to assess this team, as they were missing easily their best player in Kyle Plausse this past Sunday, but nevertheless, these boys struggled to find consistent success on either side of the ball. After a concerning loss to an especially atrocious Keast/Kimetto team, I'm curious to see if their lack of true depth will prove to be a chronic issue or if Plausse's return will catalyze this team's overall performance. More likely than not, however, the presence of Will "Hank" Zinkann in the rotation will just be too much to overcome.
9. Booth/Dorr (-3)
This team got completely smacked by likely league powerhouse Hastings on Sunday, despite having a former varsity stud in Matthew Cota on their roster. Although I'm sure most teams will struggle to compete against Hastings this season, Booth/Dorr's incompetent defensive performance is quite concerning. Unless Cota and his squad can tighten things up defensively, this team is in for a long season.
8. Keast/Kimetto (+3)
Team KK took care of business this week as they should have, as Team Townsend had only five players and were missing both their best and worst players in Kyle Plausse and Will "Hank" Zinkann, respectively. So, not much can be concluded from their performance this week, but we will see how this team progresses and overcomes the impairment of Alex Castellano on the roster.
7. McNamara (-3)
Team McNamara received a healthy dose of Jack Barry and Team Southwick in their debut matchup. What stuck out the most from this game was the lack of chemistry from McNamara's big three. Although Kasey Griffiths had a productive game, this rest of this squad did not seem to be on the same page. McNamara will look to build upon their Week 1 performance as they take on Team Sellers (who has yet to play) this Sunday.
6. Jarboe (+3)
Jarboe looked exceptional this week, with a tremendous display of ball movement and defense, all without the presence of Andrew Watkins. With several DPOY candidates on the roster, this team's debut showed that they are a force to be reckoned with. However, teams look better than they really are when they play weaker teams, and more can be said about the struggles of Team Willson from this game than the dominance of Team Jarboe. A repeat of last week's performance in Week 2 would surely silence all doubts about Team Jarboe and would launch them into the top of the ranks.
5. Manzi/Boudreau (-3)
It was a disappointing performance from Manzi/Boudreau this past weekend to say the least. Team leader Sam Boudreau looked sluggish, while Bradley teDuits was rather ineffective on both sides of the ball. The talent on this team, however, is too apparent for them to drop too far in the rankings. If Boudreau can work himself into shape over the next couple weeks and metamorphosize into the MVP-level performer he has been in the past, look for Manzi/Boudreau to recover quickly from their shocking Week 1 loss.
4. Sellers (-1)
This team didn't play this week so not much to say here. I had to drop them down a spot due to the exceptional performance of some other teams.
3. Strauss (+2)
Team Strauss came out with a lot of energy right from the jump. Their youth and defensive tenacity was on full display, and was key in putting the clamps on some of Team Manzi/Boudreau's best players. Sophomore big Jack Blount had himself an impressive performance, solidifying himself as a force to be reckoned with. This team's scrappy mentality will keep them at the winning end of games more often than not this season.
2. Southwick (+5)
Questions were floating around the league concerning whether or not Team Southwick's young cast would be able to deliver this season. This past week, those questions were answered. Sophomore demigod, Jack Barry, efficiently lead this team to a big Week 1 win against Kasey Griffiths and Team McNamara. Contributions came from all across the board as Devon Crandall banked in 4 threes and solid defense was played all around. Let's not forget that this team was missing vital players, Riley Curran and Lil YungDad.
1. Hastings (-)
This squad looks scary good already. The superstar backcourt pairing of Chris Smith and Max Phanord accounted for nearly 50 combined points in a dominating win vs. Booth/Dorr. With the offensive output I witnessed from this team on Sunday, I think it will be a tall task for anyone to take them down. Expect Hastings at #1 to be a mainstay this season.

Season Predictions
Who will take home this year's elusive MVP award? Which coach will lead his/her team to the promised land and claim the championship trophy? How many games will Will Zinkann single-handedly lose for Team Townsend? Leave it up to me to answers these pressing questions and more. Here are the 2018-19 Season Predictions:
MVP: Sam Boudreau
The consensus pick across the rec community, Sam Boudreau has been dominating the league for years, and is no doubt gearing up for an epic finale to his rec career. An uber-skilled forward who possesses an impressive all-around repertoire highlighted by elite finishing ability, outside shooting, and rebounding, Boudreau is bound to have a legendary senior campaign. With a strong supporting cast of teammates (including an already-fortified chemistry with backcourt mate Bradley teDuits), Boudy will have an easy time slicing and dicing his way through any and all competition this season.
Other potential contenders: Jeremy Keast, Matthew Cota, Kasey Griffiths, Kyle Plausse, Jack Barry
Defensive Player of the Year: Dougie Tompkins
Anyone who's played with him knows that Dougie Tompkins is an absolute pest on the defensive side of the ball. Despite his small stature, Tompkins will look to lock up the opposing team's best player with his unprecedented quickness and tenacity. Expect a season of absolute defensive domination from this star sophomore, who not only possesses exceptional man-to-man and help D techniques but also has a knack for grabbing even the most ambitious of rebounds.
Other potential contenders: Colin teDuits, Nate Townsend, Jeremy Keast, Jackson Graham, Chase Herberich
Rookie of the Year: Chris Smith
To be frank, Chris Smith is light-years ahead of any other freshman in the league this year. The 6"2 southpaw will look to turn some heads this season with his impressive size and skillset. Rumor has it that he outperformed former rec superstar Will Manzi at varsity tryouts this past week. Who knows, he may turn out to be a legitimate MVP contender as the season progresses.
Other potential contenders: None
Sixth Man of the Year: Sam Volante
The prototypical role player, Sam Volante has garnered a reputation over the years for catalyzing team chemistry and being the inspirational leader for winning squads. Although small and not tremendously athletic, Volante makes up for his deficits with hustle and effort that is unmatched. He's also known to knock down the occasional straight-away three pointer, usually to ice the game during crunch time. Look for Volante to be an impactful contributor off the bench for Team Strauss this season.
Other potential contenders: Will Bordes, Max Jarboe, Grant Willsie, Josh Booth, Ryan Taylor, Ben Rivet
Most Improved Player: Harrison Southwick
After having what many consider to be the worst rec season of all time last-season, Harrison "Meat Wagon" Southwick has a real chance to prove his doubters wrong this year. In his debut campaign, Southwick struggled to avoid double dribbles and run without his knees colliding. Fortunately, Harry whipped himself into tip-top shape during the fall and looks to surprise everyone with improved athleticism and court awareness.
Other potential contenders: Zach ElMasri, David Kimetto, Matt Heisner, Ivan Sturm, Logan Hilberg
Sleeper Pick: Simon Chandler
Star soccer forward, fantasy football protege, outrageously underrated basketball player: Simon Chandler is a man of many titles, which he will be the first to let you know. Regarded by most as nothing more than a distraction on the court (courtesy of his stunning good looks), Chandler has the potential to take the league by storm this season. With opposing defenses focusing most of their attention on his star teammate Andrew Watkins, Chandler has the perfect opportunity to showcase his shooting skills and defensive prowess, and potentially make a push for a spot on the All-Star team.
Other potential contenders: Ryan Bernard, Connor McEleney, Jamie Smith, Jacob Strauss, Tucker Granville
Worst Player: Will Zinkann
It should be noted that this year's draft was delayed three hours as each team took all possible measures to avoid drafting notorious team cancer Will Zinkann onto their squads. This man doesn't pass. He doesn't rebound. He doesn't play defense. He incites fights on the court, with his opponents and his own teammates. His rooster-ish resemblance scares away parents and referees alike. Will is going to have a miserable season, and he might cost Team Townsend any chance at winning a singular game.
Other potential contenders: Alex Castellano
Coach of the Year: McNamara
McNamara undoubtedly has a talented squad, but it will take an extraordinary display of coaching and team management in order to keep his players' personalities in check. I'm predicting a strong regular season and playoff push from this team, and for this to come to fruition, McNamara will have to develop into the championship-worthy leader and game manager that I know he is capable of becoming.
Other potential contenders: David "Mainerd" Southwick
League Champs: Team Manzi
League MVP. All-Star redhead. Impeccable depth and team chemistry. Handsome coach with a championship pedigree. This is an easy one.
Pre-Season Power Rankings
With the first games this Sunday, it's time for our first power rankings of the season.
1. Hastings/Gavel
This team seemed to have lucked out at the draft. With a healthy combination of versatile big men, athletic guards, and all-around talent, this team may have all the pieces to make a championship run. This team likely has the best backcourt duo in the league with Max Phanord and Chris Smith, and when considering the importance of strong guards in rec ball, this team takes the no. 1 spot.
2. Manzi/Boudreau
Another team that dominated the draft, Manzi/Boudreau was able to nab a handful of sleeper picks. Led by lead MVP candidate Sam Boudreau, this team has a supporting cast that is unmatched. With the experience of players like Kyle Luchford and Bradley teDuits, along with the promising young talent of Matt Heinser and Declan Lowney, expect this team to be at the top of the standings when it's all said and done.
3. Sellers
This senior-laden team will bully their way into a deep championship run. With a terrorizing group of close-knit seniors, this team will have the best chemistry in the league. Behind their vocal leader Alex Sellers, this team will win many games, and have many blowouts.
4. McNamara
The size of Team McNamara will prove to be their greatest asset, as hardly anyone will be able to match up with their bigs. Kasey Griffiths, Dan DeBinder, and Jackson Graham might just be the deadliest trio in rec ball, as they will likely turn their squad into the best rebounding team in the league. The only thing that can bring this team down is the lack of commitment from Jackson Graham, and the unpredictable temperament of Kasey Griffiths.
5. Strauss
Team Strauss' youth will be both their biggest advantage and disadvantage this season. While a lack of experience may hurt them down the stretch, their young energy and drive can lead them to do some serious damage this year. Emerging stars Dougie Tompkins and Jack Blount will need to develop a partnership that can enable them to take over at the end of games.
6. Booth/Dorr
Team Booth/Dorr looks like a well-rounded group this year. With a top MVP candidate and absolute BALLER in Matthew Cota, this team will go as far as he takes it. And with a supporting cast full of rebounders, Cota should have the pieces he needs to be Team Booth's messiah.
7. Southwick
Despite Mr. Southwick's (better known as Mainerd) questionable draft strategies, it looks like he came away with a respectable team this year for his son Harrison to work with. Although Harrison is totally unqualified to be a coach and has minimal basketball knowledge, the basketball IQ of his star players Jack Barry and Riley Curran should help him tremendously.
8. Willson/Dzwonek
This may be the team that is slept on throughout the season. With multiple players that are capable of taking over a game, this team could exceed expectations. However, it is a stretch to believe this team can perform at a high level consistently week after week. Much like with Team Booth, this team will go as far as their best player takes it, and it's up to Matt Lamarre to bring out the best of his teammates.
9. Jarboe
Simply put, this is a team full of GOOFIES. While the raw talent of this team may be among the best in the league, the commitment and motivation of the players on the team is seriously in question. Who knows what to expect from Jarbonzo bean, and as far as we've seen, Simon Chandler is all talk. We'll see what type of player freak athlete Zach Elmasri develops into, but either way, sophomore stud Andrew Watkins will have his hands full carrying this group.
10. Townsend
This team is ranked so low mostly due to the uncertainty surrounding head coach Nate Townsend. Will he return at some point this season? Maybe if he comes back this can be a team worth watching, but with wildcards Nick Perry and Will Zinkann assuming important roles with this group, there are no real fears on this team outside of Kyle Plausse.
11. Keast/Kimetto
The clear losers of the draft, Team KK has a group that is wildly unpredictable. Alex Castellano is a detriment to every team he's on, and will need to be kept on a tight leash throughout the season. Following lackluster performances at this week's open gyms, David Kimetto's obsession with missing layups and Jeremy Keast looking washed up as ever, who knows what to expect from this squad this year.

2018-19 GD Rec Basketball Season
Hey guys, and welcome to what we all hope will be another successful year of GD rec ball!
A few important dates I'd like to throw out there:
Evals - 11/13 and 11/5 at LA, times TBD
First games - 12/2
On another note - I'm entertaining the idea of starting up an Instagram page for the league this year, to post game photos/highlights and post-game interviews. If anyone has any thoughts or objections, let me know.

Final Remarks
I just want to say thank you to everyone who participated in the show this year. This past season was a lot of fun, and it was very competitive, and it wouldn't be this way if we didn't have so many committed members. So thanks everyone for a great year.
The coaches this year were spectacular and I want to say thank you to them as well, they took time out of their schedules to help keep all of us rowdy rec ballers in order, and they were spectacular as usual. Thank you coaches for yet another great season.
For all you seniors especially those who have played 4 years, I hope you all pursue basketball in your future whether it's competitively or just some pick-up every now and then. I really enjoyed playing with all of you. The rivalries we've formed is fantastic, and I hope I can play with you guys again sometime in the future. Once the snow melts (Which I'm guessing will happen mid may) there's always basketball behind the library courts feel free to come by.
All you underclassmen, I encourage you to keep playing, I think everyone got a taste of how fun this league really is, and it only gets better as you get older.
Lastly I want to thank Mr.Gingras for being an amazing commissioner. He's been instrumental in running this league, and he's been doing it for 8 years I believe. The three on three tourny, the senior shootout, those were his ideas and anyone who participated knows how great both of those things were. Most importantly though he ran this league and made it function, and he's been fantastic at doing. This is his last year and we all appreciate the work you've done for this league.
Well it's a wrap boys. I can't even express how much I enjoyed the opportunity to blog to you guys. I loved every minute of doing it, you guys really made it easy to love because everyone out there cared about what they were doing and that's not something you can say for a lot of sports leagues. Thanks for putting up with my subpar spelling and hot takes.

Yearly Awards
Freshman of the Year: Winner - Kyle Plausse: I didn't know many of the freshman this year, but man I wish I knew this kid on draft night. He made noise in the MVP race, and made noise in the defensive player of the year race. He shot beautifully and got a crazy amount of steals. The kid didn't play like freshman in the slightest and his most notable performance was leading Team Manzi to a 12 point comeback going 8/8 in the second half from behind the arc. The kid played incredible this season and hats of to him for an amazing season.
Runner up: Riley Curran: For all of the star power on team Majkut it was surprisingly Riley Curran who emerged as the leader of this team. The freshman proved he had game with some extremely high scoring games and masterful shooting. Great season Riley.
Honorable Mentions: Matt Lammare
Jack Barry (3rd and a fraction away from runner up)
Ryan Bernard
Andrew Watkins
Matt Hienser
Anyone not named Bono or Cole on Strauss.
Most Improved Player: Winner - Jake Scharn: This was an easy choice. Jake was always a goo player but the improvement from beginning to end of this was actually insane. Jake was a key player in leading 12th seed Hecht to the final 4 this year and played amazing on both sides of the ball. He went from a good player to a star player and looked better and better every game he played. Major props to him for an amazing season.
Runner up: Charlie Willis - This may seem like kind of a surprise because Charlie is a heck of a player and even in consideration for MVP, but he just got better and better as the season went on and all of the sudden, he plays a mammoth role in knocking off the number one team in the league. He turned into a superstar, and coaches I'd take notice as he should be on your first round radar for next year.
Honorable Mentions: Simon Chandler
Patrick Sullivan
Luke Llodra
Justin Mayer
Will Torgerson
James Wilson (3rd)
Coach of the Year: This one is really hard because you guys all know your coaches were great. This is based very very heavily on record.
Winner: Maureen Booth - Led her team to the best regular season, and played amazing team basketball.
Runner up: Will Mazni - Debut, Junior in highschool, no big deal as he led his team to a masterful regular season and a title.
Honorable Mentions: Strauss (3rd) - Sorry I don't know your first name, but he led a team of freshman to a top three finish there's something to be said for that.
I'm stopping here because if I go any further I'll end up doing all of the coaches, but y'all were great this year, this award should go to the league as a whole.
Defensive Player of the Year: Colin and Bradley TeDuits - Last year both of these guys were given sixth man of the year, now they've moved up to defensive players. I think picking two people for an award is a cop out, but that being said, they were both masterful on the defensive end I don't think it's fair to give one the edge over the other. They both are defensive masterminds and honestly they could very well three peat over the next seasons. Congratulations Bradley and Colin.
Runner Up: Justin Mayer and Tristan Naboicheck - Yes not only am I copping out of giving the award to one player, but I'm also copping out of runner up also. Justin got off to a crazy strong start and was locking up some top tier players in the and Nabo the defensive specialist looked amazing all season, with some freakily athletic blocks and steals.
Honorable Mentions: Peter "Meat Guy" Eldredge (3rd but like kind of cause there are 4 winners and runners up)
Drew Bernard
Andrew Door
Kyle Plausse
Eddie Hastings
Nate Townsend
Game of the Year: Meyers vs. TeDuits/Estes - There were two buzzer beaters, a 20 point comeback, and the most back and forth game I have ever seen with no leads above 5, but i went with none of them, how could I possibly go against the Team Meyers first win of the season coming in the playoffs. It was an overtime game and was close all throughout. Such a great story in such a great game.
Play of the Year: Not many people are going to remember this because it happened all the way back in week 2 in the High School, but Matt Lamarre saved a ball out of nowhere, behind the back perfectly to a teammate who drained a three. Easy choice and a heck of play by a heck of a team.
Sixth Man of the Year: Eddie Hastings - There's no specific criteria for this award because rec ball does even play time, so I'm going with a role player who's contributions may be overlooked to an unkeen eye. Eddie absolutely dominated this criteria. He plays lock down defense, hustles harder than almost everybody in the league, and actually added high scoring volume to his arsenal. He had a heck of a year and he absolutely deserves this award congratulations Eddie.
Runner Up: Jack Blount - This freshman was a tenacious rebounder, he shot the ball well, and was a huge as a true big man in this league. He has the Tim Duncan aspect to him, as he doesn't play "flashy" but he more than gets the job done. He'll be a force in this league for years to come and my advice to coaches is remember this kids name, because despite not being flashy he's one heck of a player.
Honerable Mentions: Jacob Brewster
Kyle Luchford
Jacob Booth (3rd)
Josh Booth
Will Joyner
Avi Jivsanfakwenf.wakej (One last time I think I got it right this time)
Will Torgerson
MVP: Will Zimmon... Nah I'm just kidding
Actual MVP: Drew Stone - The three horse race for this award was crazy tight, I gave Stoney the edge for two reasons, one being the clear impact he had on his team. He missed the playoff game, and his offensive impact was so obvious. This team looked lost without him. The second was his ability to out mind his opponents. The other two candidates also rose up to occasion against some strong opponents as well, however Stoney fouled guys out left and right and just broke down some elite defending. He was masterful as a passer and a scorer and played really solid defense. He was lethal all season congrats to our league MVP.
Runner Up: Kasey Griffiths - I was planning on giving him the award after the finals, but a few other persuaded me towards Stoney, that being said the margin was razor thin between these two and the 3rd place recipient. Kasey was an absolute paint dominance on offense and defense, and he was a huge part of leading his team to the crown. Kasey shot well, rebounded well, and scored at will and he really didn't disappoint in this past season.
3rd: Elias Jiser - Elias played incredible this season. He dropped 25+ points on gamely basis, and he killed it behind the arc. He was the driving force behind the success of team Southwick and showed his leadership ability when playing. He was as clutch as they come and helped spark an amazing run for Team Southwick, and he was solid on the defensive end. He had amazing season and deserves high props.
Honorable Mentions: The other honorable mentions were no particular order, these ones are in order.
Sam Budreau - The only reason he didn't win was due his small amount of game appearances.
Max Phonard - He got better week by week, and he played great on both sides of the ball.
Alex Sellers - This big man keeps getting better and better, his game isn't flashy but he's capable of going crazy.
David Meyers - Heck of a season for David, he proved he was a superstar.

Finals MVP
Two players really shined for Team Manzi today, but the one I that really stood out was Freshman Kyle Plausse. He led all scorers with 17 points, hit some unbelievably clutch threes and had the play of the game with an incredible and-1 circus layup. Let's not forget the defense he played as well. Kyle really balled out and stepped up in the big game.
Honorable Mentions:
Kasey Griffiths - 15 points and proved he was a superstar in yet another dominant performance.
Charlie Willis - Despite the loss, teh kid absolutely balled out. 16 points and some big time shots.
Matt Lamar - Big time shots today, he also hit one Dirk fade that was just text book.

Final Final
Booth vs. Manzi
57-41
In our rec ball finally it was Team Manzi who came out victorious. Team Manzi got off to a dominant start, and maintained a large lead throughout, there were times when Booth made a few runs and seemed to be mounting a comeback, but some red hot shooting and crazy finishes were too much for any team to handle. Congratulations team Manzi on their first title, and congratulations to Team Booth for an amazing season. With that our season ends and rookie head coach Will Manzi finishes a marvelous season with a title.

Finals Prediction
Booth vs. Mazni
51-47
It's a rematch of one of the craziest games of the year. It should be very close, and it's honestly in my mind a coinflip. These teams play very similar to one another with defensive emphasis and it'll e interesting how it all unfolds. I'm going with Manzi solely because they overcame more on their playoff run. Sometimes having an easier path to the finals hurts more than it helps as Manzi has seen more competitive teams on the way. It really could go either way as Booth did win the regular season matchup without some key players, but I see Manzi taking the revenge game.

Final 4 Results
This final four had 3 teams we thought would be here and one big surprise, the surprise proved they belonged, and these games did not disappoint.
Booth vs. Hecht
42-41
Wow. So the score doesn't exactly tell the story. This was a 10 point game with a minute left. Not even a minute and change, exactly one minute left. Then Hecht hit a three got the ball back and hit another. After playing the foul game a little and going back and forth Hecht had the ball with 2 seconds left out of bonds down 4. Mark DeBender then hit one of the craziest shots of the year, but Booth smartly made no contact and the game ended. It was a thriller and Hecht proved they belonged, but their effort came up just short.
Manzi vs. O'Wiley
46-43
Another crazy game to say the least. O'Wiley got off to a big lead to start the first half and kept it most of the way. Then in the closing minutes Manzi went on a crazy run, and they actually built a three point lead to start to start half. The second half was completely back forth with no team really gaining any ground but Mazni found themselves up three with 15 seconds left. A curious half court shot came with 10 seconds left from O'Wiley, but that wasn't their last chance. They got one final look at the buzzer, but couldn't connect.

Final 4 Predictions
Manzi vs. O'Wiley
65-61
I think whoever wins this game will have too much momentum not to take the title. This is the most competitive final four matchup we could have asked for, two teams I see as dead even. What will prevail? The Manzi core, or the shear star power of Sam Budreau. I think O'Wiley is the more powerful team as a whole, and I think they have a real shot at Manzi due to their multiple defenders on roster, however I think Manzi will figure it out powered by a crazy game by Kasey Griffiths. This is coin flip game in which I really like both teams for many reasons, however my gut says Manzi, so I'm going with it.
Booth vs. Hecht
65-49
I love team Hecht, I've always believed that once they play to their full potential they can be a scary force in this league. There's one problem though, they ran into a Booth team that's playing out of their mind. Now when these two teams early, Hecht didn't play a great game and it still finished a 3 point final. So don't for a second think I'm sleeping on Hecht, however based on the way Team Booth is playing I have absolutely no reason to pick against them especially in an upset loss.

Playoff Week 2 Results
Booth vs. Zolomon
47-33
This game got decided early, Booth got out to a big lead early, and Zolomon wasn't able to get anything going offensively. The defense of team Booth proved to be elite as they held Zolomon to very few open shots. Zolomon yet again only had 6 players and they weren't able to overcome this obstacle in the 14 point loss.
Hecht vs. Meyers
54-48
I'm shocked to be honest. I thought Meyers had all the destiny on their side, and I didn't know how Hecht would adjust to an opponent with a full team. Well not only did they win, but they won extremely convincingly. I know it was only a 6 point game, but it was actually a far greater difference with a crazy last minute comeback by Meyers at the end that just wasn't enough.
Strauss vs. O'Wiley
57-53
So Strauss was up 11 at halftime in this game, and they were playing a significantly better game. They peaked it at 13 with about 10 minutes and it seemed to be over. The problem is you should never ever ever count out Sam Budreau. Little by little O'Wiley started to chip away at that lead and with two minutes left they tied it back it back up. Then with about 50 seconds they took their first lead of the game and held on to complete the comeback.
Manzi vs. Southwick
45-23
This game at one point was 24-21. So after that it was a 21-2 run to finish it off. It was fairly competitive until about halfway through the second half, when Manzi just started to go insane. Southwick just had no answer to the tremendous defense of Team Manzi and they were able to pull it off.

Playoff Week 1 Results
Hey y'all sorry for the delay yhit is actually my first time being home since these games were played, but they were exciting to say the least so let's dive in.
Meyers vs. TeDuits/Estes
49-43 (OT)
So this isn't a joke, this isn't some prank Meyers choose the absolute best time to figure themselves out and pick up this win. Not only did they win, but they actually proved themselves a legitimate title threat by knocking off a team fresh off a win against number 1. It was a heck of a game, Meyers held a slim lead late into the second half, but TeDuits/Estes hit an absolutely silencing three with about 15 seconds left to send it into OT. Then in OT Meyers was able to use some solid big man plan and a key technical foul to help ice this one up. Meyers you have become America's team, cinderella is making a run in March.
Hecht vs. Bernard/Hastings
46-31
Another stunning upset to conclude an absolutely first window of games. This game was actually a battle, with a one point game at halftime, and both teams playing completely even. Then in the final 8 minutes Hecht started going crazy. They were hitting every shot, making every defensive play, and utterly dominated down the stretch. Bernard/Hastings was missing their superstar for this one, but nevertheless it was a great battle ending in another upset.
Gingras vs. Southwick
67-54* (unofficial score)
I'll be honest I didn't get to see the end of this game, my game started before this ended so I didn't get to see how it all unfolded but this was easily the best two team game this playoffs. Both teams played really good and it was a see saw game where Southwick would be build up a little lead, and Gingras would strom back, then Southwick would build a lead again and Gingras would storm back. The duel between Max Phonard and Elias Jiser could not have been more entertaining. As they both shot incredibly, but in the end the lead got too big for Gingras to come back from, so despite a great effort, Southwick was the better team.
O'Wiley vs. McNamara
58-34
This one started out with a big lead, and finished with a big lead, no other way around it. O'Wiley played tremendously on defense and on offense, and McNamara couldn't get anything going on either side of the basketball. The damage was done early and there was no going back. Of all of the first round games, this one was probably the most one sided, as O'Wiley continues to look like a dominant team.
Majkut vs. Zolomon
53-44
Majkut started the game on a 9-0, then from there Zolomon started to do their thing. They played extrememly aggrssively on defense and forced a lot of turnovers. This game going into half was 20-18 and looked like it could go either way, but a huge second half run sparked by defense made all of the difference as the lead for Zolomon grew too big for Majkut to overcome.
Meyers vs. TeDuits/Estes

Round 1 Predictions
Zolomon vs. Majkut
61-55
Upset Chance: 37% (To be fair though 9 over 8 isn't really an upset)
Last time these two teams played Majkut won by over 30 handing Zolomon their biggest loss of the season. Since then however Zolomon has trended upwards and Majkut has trended downward. I can say for certain this game will be more competitive, but Zolomon has been playing too good lately for them not to win.
Southwick vs. Gingras
41-40
Upset Chance: 51%
I can see this going all three ways, a nail biter, a Southwick blowout, or a Gingras blowout. These teams are about as even as you can get. Southwick is a little better on paper, but Gingras is playing with way more momentum right now. Again to me this one is coin toss, but I lean the slightest amount toward Gingras.
O'Wiley vs. McNamara
65-41
Upset Chance 18%
McNamara couldn't have gotten a worse break in these brackets. They were an upset potential team with the addition of Peter White, however the fact that they ran into O'Wiley is just the worst break they could have possibly gotten. O'Wiley is for real and is probably the most for real team playing in this first round, and barring a surprise no show from Sam Boudreau this should be a win for O'Wiley.
Bernard/Hastings vs. Hecht
51-49
Upset Chance 6%
Even though the upset chance is below 50% I still am picking Hecht. I just have a feeling about them I don't know why. I think the Hecht roster just haven't all shined on the same day, but the playoffs are a whole different animal. Mark DeBinder could very well find his stride again, and I believe they are capable of pulling it off. I believe in Hecht and I'm taking those 6% odds. Sometimes when a team has no logical reason to win, they'll win,
TeDuits/Estes vs. Meyers
44-31
Upset Chance 29%
Bernard/Hastings vs. Hecht
51-49
Upset Chance 6%

44-31
Upset Chance 29%
I think this game is going to be closer people think. Team Meyers is playing the trap game role and I think they can surprise you. However TeDuits/Estes wasn't a good draw for them as they are coming in red hot after a win to the number one team. I can see a scenario where the game is tied with like 4 minutes left and TeDuits/Estes goes on a furious run to end the game. That's my guess, but I'm picking T/E.

Two Reasons Every Team (Yes Even you Meyers) Can Win it All
Meyers: Trap Game Central - TeDuits/Estes is already looking on to round 2, and if y'all get by them whoever you do end up playing will probably do the same, trap games are real, and this team can surprise you.
Destiny - All it takes is one win, the morale will go up, the confidence will soar and everyone is going to be rooting for you. It's just getting the first one that's key
Hecht: Scharnsanity - The emergence of Jake Scharn has been extremely fun to watch. He had a breakout game a few games back and hasn't looked back. He has been fantastic this year and he's a name to watch in these playoffs.
Three Point Shooting - This team lives and dies with the three, if they can get the three balls falling, they'll be in business, we've seen what they can do when they do make it and it's deadly.
McNamara: Peeta - After a week one game, Peter White has not played for this team since, I can't guarantee sundays, but I'm very confident he will play in Friday's matchup. With Peter not only is he a star scorer and defender, but he takes the focus off a few other players, oh and they haven't lost when he's on the floor.
Balance - They have bigs, they have littles, they have shooters and they have rebounders, they don't have any overwhelming strengths, but they don't have any huge holes either.
Gingras: Momentum - They picked up a win against a good team this week, and every week it seems they get better and better, that's a good trend to have entering the playoffs.
The San Antonio Effect - If you've ever watched a game team Gingras have played they make for the most part really intelligent passes. This smart ball movement will help them in possibly creating a first round upset.
Majkut: Hockey's Over - Liam McDonough and Andrew Berube should be back full time for these playoffs, they're two key players and should be back and in business.
Ceiling - This team haven't reached their peak yet and while they haven't had their whole team for a lot of the season, they still haven't reached that peak potential we all know they have
Zolomon: Five Guys No More - For the last 6 or 7 they had at most 6 players, now it's playoff time, and they have a team. It worked for them as a handful of players really got to see play time, and have played a lot time while immensely tired, now with subs who knows how high they can fly.
Welcome Back T-Chase: While there has been no word on if he can return or not, it's likely at the very least he'll be back for the friday games. He'll give them an edge on the boards to help Alex Sellers out, and could provide them with the spark they need.
Southwick: Elias Jiser - Yep he gets his own category, whether he wins MVP or not he's been incredible this year. He's good for at least 20 on a weekly basis and his consistency has led this team.
Physicality - They're big team with some big players capable of beating you with contact, they're smart and don't foul, but they will smoother you and make you uncomfortable from the first whistle to the last.
O'Wiley: Speed Doesn't Kill As Much As Size - They have some big bodies on this roster, that will work to their advantage on the boards.
Full Squad - I could be wrong, but I don't think they've had a full team all year, with all 10 guys this team has a ridiculous ceiling.
Bernard/Hastings: Fast Break - In terms of fast break offense this team is at least number one or number two, they're fast and their bigs can run. It creates matchup nightmares.
Winning the Foul Battle - Drew Stone does a magical thing where he fouls out his matchup on game by game basis, at the very least you will have a ball handler in foul trouble when you play them, you don't want that.
TeDuits/Estes: Learning From Mistakes - Last year this team took an early upset after being the one seed, with I believe 4 returning players, they know as well as anyone that one and done is for real. They're ready and have a lot of playoff experience on the roster.
Offense and Defense and the Pesky TeDuits - Ryan is an offensive specialist who can defend well, Colin is defensive specialist who can score well, and Bradley is hybrid with elite level defense. The three of them alone makeup amazing balance, the rest of the roster is extremely balenend as well and that helped them get a high seed.
Strauss: Teamwork - I looked at the box score today looking for who went off, and it wasn't one player, every single player contributed roughly an even amount... that's teamwork if I've ever seen it, and they've shown it all year not just today.
Unpredictability - The scary thing about this team is they have so many scoring options, you can't predict who's going to take the shot, they're hard to scout, they're hard to read making them hard to defend.
Manzi: Shear Power - The star power on this team is ridiculous, despite this two game slide, they were missing a key player in the loss today, and they have the pieces to beat anyone. They can win matchups with whoever they put on the court and that's what makes them so powerful.
Play your position? Nahhhh - Manzi has bigs who play little, and littles who play big, they have shooters who are 6 feet and rebounders who are small, how do you guard that?
Booth: Defense wins Championships - They play defense to say the least, they took home the defensive title this year and they earned it with elite level defender, you can't win if you, don't score any points.
Rebounding: They have bigs and they do work in the paint, if they win the rebounding battle they win, and they usually do, this makes them so dynamic, and is a large reason they finished the league on top.

3 on 3
After a one year hiatus, the Groton Dunstable Hoops on Fire 3 on 3 tournament is back! If this isn't something you've ever competed in I would highly recommend it. For those of you not on my team it's a chance to avenge your rec ball playoff loss. Registration is no later than 3/10, and the tournament will take place 3/24 and 3/25. Week 13 Results
Hecht vs. Southwick
45-41
This game was over. 17 point Southwick lead at halftime, 19 point lead with about 10 minutes left, 11 point game with under 3 minutes left, but never have I ever seen a fight like the one I saw team Hecht put up in the last three minutes, bucket after bucket, and they actually got it down to a 2 point game with 7 seconds left. Max Jarboe however hit two icy free throws and ended Hecht's comeback hope, but great effort by both sides nevertheless.
Gingras vs. O'Wiley
53-51
This game was close all throughout, no one had a lead above 6 and both teams battled. There was a point where O'Wiley hit a three to take the lead, Gingras answered with their own, O'Wiley came down and hit another one, and Gingras answered with a three again. Both teams shot well, but Team Gingras proved they wanted it more. O'Wiley still put up a heck of an effort, they only had 5 kids and were missing their superstar Sam and still battled.
Zolomon vs. McNamara
74-44
There were 5 really close games today, this was not one of them. Zolomon shot the ball incredibly today as they couldn't seem to miss. 74 is tied for a league high and they did it with 5 guys. Everyone contributed for them today. Team McNamara had a solid press for a while, but lost it, and this game was just a blowout from start to finish.
Strauss vs. Manzi
51-46
It was a tie game going into halftime, but Strauss went a on a 10-0 run to start the second and they just never looked back. There was a pair of garbage time threes (Off balance and completely covered so the degree of difficulty was very high still), but Strauss really won this game more convincingly than the score says.
Booth vs. TeDuits/Estes
45-41
Booth and Mazni both lost on the same day... well it's march, and you have to commend the effort of TeDuits/Estes of picking the win against the number one team with 6 players. Team Booth shockingly seemed to take a step back despite having the whole team this week. This game proved that the title is anyone's to take. Although to be fair Booth had only pride to play for because they already had the top seed locked up.
Meyers vs. Majkut
34-30
I'm honestly heartbroken for team Meyers. They didn't win a game this season, they have one more shot against a red hot TeDuits/Estes. They had a battle today, and tied it up with 4 minutes left, but Majkut was the better team today, and they battled for the win.

Last Baller of the Week
Winner: Alex Sellers - 36 points on 18/24 shooting, that's ridiculous. He scored 36 and only attempted one mid range shot, the rest was done in the paint and it was a Wilt like performance for him, a commanding finish to the season.
Runner up: Kasey Griffiths - 25 points and played the completely opposite big man role as the winner as he killed it from outside the arc along with inside the paint.
Honorable Mentions:
Elias Jiser - 20 points and lead team Southwick to a big time win
Jake Scharn - 16 points and almost helped mount a crazy comeback
Justin Kavy - 19 points and came through in the clutch helping his team move up in the standings
Max Phonard - 18 points and played solid as usual
James Wilson - 20 points and some crazy layups mixed with dead eye shooting
Tristan Naboicheck - 16 points and spectacular defense to go along with it
Will Zimmon - 16 points on only 8 shots
Garrett Solomon - 15 points and somewhere between 10-20 assists
Peter Eldredge - 14 points, 4 blocks, and more rebounds than Cromartie children
Ben Majkut -16 points and laser shooting to keep Meyers from their first win
Matt Carroll*- 14 points and some amazing dribble moves, but the star is due to fact it wasn't for his own team.

Last Regular Season Power Rankings
Guys... this is the second to last addition of power rankings, I'm a little bummed by playoff rec ball and march madness are better than Christmas that's a fact just not my opinion. So let's enjoy the last week where we all sort of like each other and over the next couple of games the rivalries will form if they haven't already.
13. Meyers (-)
0-11
I.... I believe.... I believe that... I believe that they will win this one. I really do. The second debut of Joey Femia wasn't real, but I genuinely believe he will be back this time. They put up a great second half fight against team TeDuits/Estes and I believe they are capable of pulling out a big time upset this week against Team Majkut. If they don't finish the regular season with a win they will get a game against a Bernard/Hastings caliber team, if there's a time a time for the stars to align and them to get a win it's now. Not only I, but America is rooting for y'all also. If they can shoot like they did last week, they have a shot.
12. McNamara (-)
3-8
I actually received some amazing playoff news for this team, Peter White in all likelihood will be back for playoffs. With this addition this team is a whole different animal. As of now coming off a big loss they're not in the greatest of shape, however they have a game against a potential first round opponent next week to try to find themselves again, then they'll have a key player back for the show. This team started out very high and showed potential at the beginning of the season, lost their stride, found it, started playing good, then lost it again. For now they sit at 12, but they could be a legitimate playoff threat.
11. Hecht (-)
2-9
I just can't get a read on this team. They've played some amazing games and probably don't deserve a 2-9 record, as some individual games they outplayed their opponent and they've lost. Then again some games they look like you'd be surprised if they even have one. Last week they took a beating, and this week they do have a chance to bounce back and pick up some steam before playoffs. I think with the upside on this team, and they are definitely not an opponent to be slept on, but they need to play at their best which they've shown in a few games. We'll see what happens in this upcoming game, to see if they can find that high level.
10. Gingras (-)
2-9
I wanted to move this team up I really did. They're the best 2-9 team maybe in league history. I was amazed when I saw they were only 2-9 and had to fact check it going back game by game. If I were to describe them they're that fantasy football team that always scores the 2nd most points, but happens to play the team with the most. They're for real but I couldn't move them up especially after they lost to the team one spot above them, but they can play. The defensive play and the rebounding are among the leagues best, and they a playoff matchup a higher ranked team doesn't want to see next to their name.
9. Majkut (-)
4-7
I swear I'm not just keeping everyone complacent in these rankings, it just so happens the bottom 5, and 6 actually are staying the same. That being said this team has a high ceiling. They have to beat Meyers this week, for momentum and this is a must win game for them in order to keep themselves in the 8/9 line. This team has a championship caliber ceiling, but they haven't shown it once this season. If they can find their stride they'll be good to good, however it's hard to say whether they'll tap into that potential or not. This is why they need to at least win next week. If they lose it'll take a miracle to magically find their ceiling playoff week.
8. Southwick (-1)
6-4
AYE A change, and this drop obviously isn't due to their play, but more because they got a bye at the wrong time. Obviously they reached the high point in their season on their massive win streak, but as of late they've cooled off. I don't know how to rate tem, and again they have a big range of playoff spots they can fall, so a win against team Hecht would definitely help their case.
7. Zolomon (+1)
5-6
Even though they lost they showed a lot last week. They had 5 players... again and they looked surprisingly good against a good team. They had one ball handler, and were missing three key players and another key player got went down leaving them with 0 ball handlers, but with all of these obstacles, they still made it a game until the final buzzer sounded. Next week they'll get to see a more full squad they'll get to see how good they can actually be. When they had a full team at the beginning of the year, they were unstoppable, and no one's seen a full Zolomon squad since week 2, so they're hard to read to say the least.
6.Bernard/Hastings (-1)
8-4
It feels wrong dropping them, and I looked for a way to bump them up, but I just couldn't do it. The fact is they are dead even if not better than than the two teams above them, it's just in terms of the "eye test" last week they did slightly worse than the other two teams. These rankings as of now are split into three tiers the bottom 4 are solid but championship hopeful, 7-9 are question marks and 1-6 are real deal championship contenders. So even though they sit at the bottom of championship contenders don't for a second sleep on this team. They are capable of winning it all without a doubt and even though they have a bye they'll go into next week furiously.
5. TeDuits/Estes (-2)
7-4
They're going to get a very similar write up to Bernard/Hastings, they don't deserve this drop and they are better than the number next to their name. I gave them the slightest edge over Bernard/Hastings due to the tiny bit better play last week. They have the defensive and offensive mix to be a threat in this league and the are 100% a threat to take the title. They are lowkey on a 4 game win streak and get a huge test game against Booth next week to see where they stand. The balance of offense and defensive to really make a run.
4.Strauss (-)
8-3
As of now they are in the drivers seat for a first round bye, win and they're in. They've earned it truly they have. They took my pre-season last place power ranking and laughed at it. They not only have proved that freshman cna play, but have proved they are a legitimate title threat. The chemistry on this team is unmatched. They have a bunch of players who can go off any given week, and every player plays a key role when they play good. They win the games they're supposed to win and that's why they're looking at a bye. This team scary and don't play like freshman to say the least. (With apologies to Cole and Bono I know y'all aren't freshman)
3. O'Wiley (+3)
7-4
This team was ranked 2nd in the pre-season, but then after varsitygate, and injuries and players not showing up we never got to see them at their top potential, and the scary thing is, we still haven't. I could be wrong about this, but I don't think they've had a full team in any of the games. Now they're just dominating teams. They almost don't seem beatable and if I had to guess there's one team that can beat one of the "Big 2" it's O'Wiley. We still haven' seen them so who knows they might be a disaster, but as long as Sam Budreau still exists I like their chances.
2. Manzi (-1)
10-1
Yes... that is a -1 next to their name, yes that is a 1 not a 0 in the loss column, you didn't read that wrong, that wasn't a typo. That being said, this loss definitely humbled them. Now they have fuel into their fire. They shouldn't hang their heads and I don't think they are. This team still does the highest ceiling in the league. Manzi is the real deal and I think it's obvious despite the loss they still are a real deal contender. They have a big time follow up game against Strauss and a win is a big time win, and it'll spring them back right where they need to be.
1. Booth (+1)
10-1
I admit I've had my doubts about this team, and they took my doubts and said, hey Will you're dumb. Good for them too, they've really earned this 10-1 record. As of now they control their own destiny and title town runs through Boothville (That might have been the dumbest thing I've said in my life ever...), and by taking down the top in the league they proved they proved they deserve this top spot. The scary thing is, they won without a 3 key players. Imagine what they can do with the whole team. They look better and better each week and as of now they are the slight favorite over Manzi for the title. They now get a chance to prove themselves even more against TeDuits/Estes. I think I'm going to predict them to lose, not because I actually think they are, but proving me wrong seems to make them play better sooooooo.
13. Meyers (-)
0-11
I.... I believe.... I believe that... I believe that they will win this one. I really do. The second debut of Joey Femia wasn't real, but I genuinely believe he will be back this time. Baller of the Week 12
So funny thing about baller of the week this week, while I am very confident I have the right winners and runners up, I have absolutely no idea who scored how much, there were no scorers this week, I tried and I was uniquely terrible at it, anyway let's get down to the nitty gritty.
Winner: Charlie Willis/Derek Casuso - They did two completely different things, Charlie dropped 27 and was an absolute force in this game, being the biggest scorer in dethroning Mazni, and Derek may have only had 13 (Which is still really good, just not usually enough for baller of the week) however, he hit the two gutsiet free throws, maybe in rec ball regular season history. Down by 1 with no time on the clock against an undefeated team. Kids got ice in his veins and good for these two.
Runner up: Drew Stone - Unofficially but fairly confidently he had 31 points and dropped more than 60% of team Bernards points in a big win for them.
Honorable mentions: So this is when it's going to get messy, there will be point ranges, and there will be forgotten people who deserve a mention, again I am terribly sorry about this.
Bradley and Ryan Teduits - They both had 18 points leading team TeDuits to another win, and firming up a possible 3 seed.
Alex Bushnell - 9-50 points, sorry man I didn't see the game I just heard he balled out, and hit shots lights out.
Alex Sellers - 15-35 points and an aggressive amount of rebounds.
Will Zimmon - 13-21 points, and played solid a solid substitute in the absence of a star player
Riley Curran - 14-22 points and came up big in the clutch leading his team to a win
Avi Somethingwhocares - 17 points and 5 threes
Jared Phelps - 9 points on laser shooting behind the arc
Justin Kava.... - 14-20 points in almost leading an upset
Kyle Plausse - 23-27 points and almost had a game winner before the infamous Caruso free throws
Kasey Griffiths - 15-24 points and dominated the paint
Peter Eldredge - 4-12 points and 13-94 rebounds

Week 12 Results
TeDuits/Estes vs. Meyers
65-54
So nevermind about debut 2 of Joey Femia, but this game was actually closer than expected, then again the score doesn't really tell the complete story, TeDuits/Estes still won very comfortably. Meyers has one more shot next week to pick up that first win, but I think we all had a fair idea in our mind that this week wouldn't be their week as Team Estes/TeDuits is for real.
Zolomon vs. Bernard/Hastings
50-45
This was actually an incredibly competitive game. Zolomon had 5 players, but has that ever not happened? It wasn't a total mismatch though Bernard/Hastings only had 6. Buzzer to buzzer both teams showed extreme heart and in the end Bernard/Hastings press proved to be too much for Team Zolomon.
Gingras vs. Majkut
55-52
First of all my deepest condolences for the worst clock work possibly in rec ball history, to be fair it was my debut and I was alone, but nevertheless, it was ugly, and I am sorry. The game itself however was far more pretty. Team Majkut would pull up with 8 or 9 point leads and Team Majkut would just cut them down immediately. They made an amazing run at the end of the game and came up just short as Majkut just held on to the win.
O'Wiley vs. McNamara
47-29
I didn't get to see this one, but from the score it's fair to assume that O'Wiley was able to play defense on an elite level. Team McNamara has looked like an offensive revelation in the past three games, but today they haven't tapped into what they have in the past few weeks. OWiley is starting to find their rhythm and are looking like a top tier playoff team.
Strauss vs. Hecht
62-43
So I said I had a gut feeling about team Hecht, I think I jinxed them. Team Strauss found their stride again which they haven't had over the past few weeks, and they proved they are also a legitimate contender. Team Hecht has shown some fight this year, but haven't been consistent in three straight games all season, hopefully they can find it in the playoffs.
Booth vs. Manzi
51-50
I pinched myself plural times. I went to a pig breeder and tossed one air, it flew so now I didn't get an animal cruelty charge. I don't think this happened, I don't think this is real. Booth was missing plural Booths and Andrew Door. There is no logical reason they should have won, that being said, they did and proved they're for real. The game was fantastic, and was close all throughout. Kyle Plausse hit a layup with 8 seconds left to push the score to 50-49, but as time expired Derek Caruso drove and got to the free throw line. Then after two ice cold free throws Manzi's perfect season ended. S/o to this team because they've been proving me wrong all year, and did in in the of 29 points off of what I predicted.

Week 12 Predictions
Meyers vs. Estes/Teduits
47-40
The long awaited second of debut of Joey Femia will be spoiled by the tenacious defense of team Estes/TeDuits. There's been a lot of trash talk between both sides, and while I believe Femia will prove himself, the defense will be too much to handle as Team Meyers will scrape out whatever offense they can get.
Bernard/Hastings vs. Zolomon
55-53
Two reasons I'm leaning this way, 1.The Zolomon team is red hot and have proven they can beat top tier teams, and 2. These two teams practiced together and Zolomon generally had the edge. That being said Bernard/Hastings is a completely different animal, than they were before. These two teams are very similar in play style and we should see a spectacular game.
Gingras vs Majkut
47-43
This is surprisingly interesting matchup. Team Majkut has been all over the place this season and it's hard to say which Majkut team is actually going to show up. On the other hand, Gingras is playing at the highest level they have all year, and are a far better opponent than they were earlier in the year. I'll take Majkut due to the hockey season ending, but honestly this is a intriguing game.
O'Wiley vs. McNamara
61-44
The good news is for Team McNamara is they're peaking at a good time, the bad news they ran into a red hot O'Wiley where they are simply out matched. I can see a situation where McNamara does keeps it close, but Sam has been too good for O'Wiley not to pick up a win.
Booth vs. Manzi
67-39
So in this 1-2 you'd think I'd pick it to be closer. Well I've been informed many of the Booth squad will not be in attendance. This isn't the real Booth team therefore I don't see this being a real game. Had the full team been there, I still probably would have picked Manzi, but in far closer game. It would have been far more intriguing, but with who is projected to show up, I'm sorry I just see no way this ends close.
Hecht vs. Strauss
44-43
I honestly can't give you a reason why I have this game so close, truthfully I think Strauss is probably a 10 point better team. I just having a gut feeling about Team Hecht this week, and my gut is right about 30% of the time sooooo. That being said Strauss have proved week in and week out, I'm predicting a poor shooting game for them where they bounce back in the final 3 minutes and pull out a win.
