Playoff Predictions 2

Round 1

Game 1 Coveno 45 vs Modzeleswki 32
At times this season Coveno has competed with the best of the league.  At other times they have struggled to score.  Modzeleswki has had difficulties all year in the second half, most notably their blowout loss to Dorff in which they scored two baskets in 16 minutes.  If Carl and Will can make their shots team Modzeleswki will have a shot at this game.  If not Coveno will run away with it in the second half.

Game 2 Gingras 41 vs Transfaglia 34
Gingras won the first matchup in a defensive performance.  Jimmy was held to zero points and the rest of the team could not overcome it.  If this were to happen again Jason Pang will need to start making three's to keep this a close game.  Gingras will need to control the paint and use their size to prevent offensive rebounds, should Pang start making his shots, as they no longer have the services of Connor "Glass Knees" Johnson.

Game 3 Booth 42 vs Mitchell 37
These two teams have been going in opposite directions all season long.  Mitchell started off at the top of the preseason rankings and has since plummeted due to their lack of teamwork.  Meanwhile Booth has established themselves as a legitimate contender and should be able to get the win over a struggling Mitchell.

Game 4 Hecht 43 vs Tornaritis 42
This game is entirely dependent upon whether Dean plays or not.  With Dean team Tornaritis can compete for a championship.  Without him there are questions if they can even put up 25.  Team Hecht relies too much on the outside shots.  When they can hit them there is no team they can't play with, but once they start missing their entire team struggles.  Team Tornaritis will go one-and-done as they attempted to defend their title.

Round 2

Game 5 Werner 63 vs Coveno 57
After a nice win in round 1 Coveno will come in feeling like they can take on the world.  Unfortunately for them Werner plans on winning it all and they are just a speed bump in the way.  Coveno will keep it close through shear hustle and work but once it is crunchtime Werner will do what they have all year and ride Justin as he makes two threes to put the game away.

Game 6 Gingras 46 vs Dawson 32
Due to Team Dawson's youth and inexperience they won't be able to handle the pressure that comes with rec playoffs and the one thing that kept them winning games will start to fail them.  Dylan Dawson and Will Manzi will go 4 for 20 from beyond the arc while Team Gingras won't even attempt 4.  Instead Gingras will win through domination of the paint as Griffin Lily shows who is the rookie of the year and Jack Battles puts two of his brothers in their place.

Game 7 Gavel 61 vs Booth 56
Team Booth will come out firing on all cylinders as Ben Wadden and Jacob Hickman start the game off with a pair of threes each.  However, Team Gavel will take the lead in the second half and not look back as they cruise into the semifinals.

Game 8 Dorff 57 vs Hecht 44
Team Dorff will put an end to Team Hechts attempt to win it all as the 12 seed.  The Flying Femias will control all aspects of the game after Toner is ejected in the first half with two technicals.  Hecht will make a late comeback but will ultimately have too much to overcome.

Semifinal

Game 9 Werner 41 vs Gingras 38
This is the matchup we at the blog have been wanting to see from the day that Justin Watt was added to Werner.  This game will be a battle of the paint as Gabe and Justin take on Griffin and Jack.  With Jacob Hertog on Chris Werner this game is going to be decided by the other players on the teams.  Ultimately it will come down to Nick "Shutdown" Boggiano stealing the ball as Gingras tries for the game winner, passing it to Chris who will propel Justin's team to the RecBall Championship with a half court buzzer beater.

Game 10 Gavel 57 vs Dorff 36
Gavel will lead this game from the tipoff as Dorff just doesn't have the height or speed to compete with them.  The Gavels will combine to score more than all of team Dorff as they take their team to its first ever championship.

Championship

Game 11 Werner 49 vs Gavel 38
Werner will complete what every high school basketball player wants to achieve before they graduate, win a RecBall Championship.  And they will do it in resounding fashion.  Team Werner will use their size to control the paint, speed to control the perimeter, and heart to control the game.  Gavel will try and claw their way back into the game but Justin will stomp it out as he takes control in the final 4 minutes and scores 15 to put the game out of reach and secure the victory which eluded them last year.
