This one was very difficult because so many people really balled out in different ways this week.
Winner: Jack Barry - 27 points and a game winning buzzer beating layup
Runner Up: Sam Budreau - 34 points, and according to elias sports bureau this is the 4th most points by a baller of the week runner in rec ball history
Honorable Mentions:
Elias Jiser - 23/38 of Southwick's points and strengthening his MVP case by the week.
Kasey Griffiths - 23 Points and a dumb amount of rebounds to go along with it.
Zach Millet - 19 Points and led McNamara to their first win since week 1
David Meyers - 19 Points and dropped dimes, probably scoring or assisting on 37 of this teams 41.
Drew Rock - 18 points and almost led a comeback against a pesky Teduits/Estes defense
Riley Curran - 18 points and played elite level defense.
Patty O - 18 points and more rebounds Cromartie children.
Honorable mentions tier 2: I was ifey about doing this again, but people seemed to really like it so it'll stay.
Max Phonard - 15 Points against a strong team.
Ryan Teduits - 14 Points and played a key role in pulling off the upset today
Connor Estes - Subtract a point and see description above
Jay Fulreader - 10 points with two big time threes. His coach was raving about his performance and rightfully so, the kid balled out today
Stevie D - 14 points, sorry man I'm not even going to try at your last name.
Will Zimmon - 14 Points, Yep I put myself in here, fight me I'll come in second.
Ben Rivet - I don't know the exact total, but I know he hit at least 2 probably 3 3's. I'll give it to ya.

Week 9 Results
Southwick vs. Majkut
38-33 (OT)
The Southwick winning steak moves up to 6, is that a typo? Nope they've actually won six in a row so hats off to them. They held a fairly sizable lead throughout the game, but Majkut was able to chip away at it, and push it to OT. It was there where Harrison Southwick iced the game with some big time free throws and Southwick continues their quest for number 1.
Gingras vs. Booth
34-28
Booth has a solid lead all throughout the game and lost it with about 3 minutes left. They weren't having any of that. They stormed back and gave themselves a 6 point lead and this time they weren't going lose it. Both teams struggled to get anything going offensively, but it was a gritty win for team Booth.
O'Wiley vs. Strauss
64-63
I talked about how last week Zolomon vs. Hecht was the game of the year, this took that right away from them. Strauss was down big, but never played like they were out of it. They kept chipping away at a huge lead, and slowly made it smaller and smaller, and it wasn't until the buzzer they finally overcame it. Gutsy game for both teams. It's worth noting O'Wiley only had 5 players and absolutely balled out.
Bernard/Hastings vs. TeDuits/Estes
47-43
The battle of the slashes was very close throughout. TeDuits/Estes kept a small lead throughout the whole game, and never let up. They played a very team brand of basketball and looked amazing doing it. Meanwhile team Bernard/Hastings who would have been in the two spot with a win, now put themself in an awkward spot after a long win streak.
Zolomon vs. Manzi
73-44
The score doesn't tell the story of this game whatsoever, this was really about a 16 margin with unreal shooting in the last three minutes by some interesting shooters from Manzi. Make no mistake, Manzi handled Zolomon with ease, and they were able to get an easy win. They improve to lead leading 9-0 and Aaron Rodgers mentality of running the table, is starting to look like it could be a reality.
McNamara vs. Meyers
54-41
Admittedly I thought for sure Meyers would pick up their first win, but McNamara refused. There's something about that number 13 spot that makes team play better. Mcnamara played their most complete game on both sides of the ball and all of a sudden they look like a team poised for a big time turnaround.

Standings Page
So if you've ever tried to look at the standings page and noticed, a.) it's not updated and b.) it looks like a kindergartener drew it, those are completely fair criticisms. Well thanks to help of Jacob Booth the page is completely linear and up to date.
Week 9 Power Rankings
Don't worry I didn't forget! Let's dive right in.
13. McNamara (-1)
1-6
The good news for them is they didn't play that bad. In fact they were the better team in the first half of their last game. Their issue has been consistency, and it showed at the end of the game last week. This team has been very pesky, and they might be the best defensive team ever to be at the bottom of the power rankings in league history. The obvious issue is what they are doing on the offensive end. They have hope, to maybe fix it against Meyers who has been better on the offensive end than defensive, but they're playing really good, I have my doubts. Star player Peter White would help them out, but when was the last time he played week 2? They'll need him if they want a turnaround.
12. Meyers (-1)
0-7
I tried to move them and I was looking to do it, but there just wasn't space for them. They put in another gutsy effort without a key player in Alex Bushnell. They're definitely not playing like 12 ranked team and they're definitely not playing like a winless team. I see a win in their future sooner rather than later. They play team McNamara this week, and knock on wood it's starting to look like this week will be the week. They've been playing with easily the most heart in the league, and they've proved they aren't a joke. They need a source of offense outside of David Meyers, but I believe they have the roster for someone to step up. I like this team a lot and they should rise a lot in the next couple of weeks.
11. O'Wiley (-4)
3-4
I know they didn't have all of their players, and I know they played the best team in the league but that was... that happened. Their last performance was ugly there's no other way to put it. They have potential to turn around and could be right back to win column as early as this week, but for now they sit here due to the poor play. We're still yet to see them with a full squad due to injuries or people not showing up. It's mystery where this team will be at when they are at full strength, but it's obvious where they're at without all of their guys. Aggressively mediocre. They can finish the year as high as 2, but until we see them at full strength I'm leaving them chasing 13.
10. Hecht (+3)
2-6
I know they lost, and I know their record isn't great, but wow this team looked good. They play a great brand of team basketball, and they're defense is really solid. Although the press didn't work last week, I wouldn't give up on it. They just happened to run into the best press breaking and fast break team in the league last week. They rebounded the ball extremely well, and hit a lot of shots. The three pointers weren't falling, but I contribute that more to a fluke than a problem. They hit some deep twos so maybe a step or two back and they'll be in business. They play with a lot of heart and played a great team very tough, I think they are a team that gets slept on more than they should.
9. Gingras (+1)
1-6
I wanted to move them up more because they played a really good second half, and they got a win, but there are two things that still alarm me. They haven't dominated on the defensive end like I know they are capable of, and they haven't shot lights out like I know I know they're capable of. Max Phonard has been nothing but magnificent this season, however they need a few more players to start playing more consistent game, outside of him. I think this roster is capable of doing damage in this league with a very high ceiling. We'll see how they respond to the win with an intriguing matchup against Booth.
8. Majkut (+1)
4-4
They put in a heck of an effort with six players. They had some surprising appearances from a few hockey players, but also still lacked some depth. This is another team I wanted to move up more, but just couldn't.. They shot really well and at the end of the game, and proved the three ball is a weapon for them. They played as solid defense as you can ask for with six guys and they were able to keep themselves in it through the whole game. This is another team we haven't seen the whole squad together yet, and when they are they could be very lethal. I'm intrigued on how they respond against Southwick.
7. Teduits/Estes (-5)
3-4
They may not have been ready for the number 2 spot. I was excited to give it to them, and now I don't know how I feel. They did run into a hot Southwick team, and didn't play that bad, but the number two team in the league should have won that game. They some big time wins, and they have some surprising losses, so this team is really hard to rank. So why not dead in the middle? This team is still lethal on the defensive and they have scorers on the roster. I believe they are capable of holding a top two spot when the season is over, however these kinds of games are the ones they have to be able to win, and they showed some problems, that maybe we didn't know were there before.
6. Strauss (-2)
5-3
You can ask anyone on there roster, last week wasn't their best game. I find that amazing, it looked fine to me. Nothing spectacular, but it really wasn't that bad. The only thing that concerns me about them is, the past two weeks they haven't played at the elite level they have been previously. Is this a little skid, or a sign of things to come? I lean toward skid, they play too good as a team and too good on offense to not be a legitimate title threat. They have a game against a struggling O'Wiley team, and this could be the perfect opportunity to get themselves back on their feet. I'm excited to see how this team responds, because they shut me up with my pre season ranks. Also you can close your eyes and point to anyone on that roster, and they're likely in contention for freshman of the year.
5. Zolomon (+4)
4-3
This team struggled before this game. To be fair they've had 5- for the three prior weeks, and even though they only had 6 in this one, they proved they can play at that same level they started the season with. There isn't a better fast break team better in the league. Maybe Bernard/Hastings? but I don't know. The fast break proved to be a headache for team Hecht. There are two underlying issues for this team that need to fixed if they want to contend, rebounding, and half court offense. If they can figure these two issues out they become a really scary title threat, and I would be worried about how high ceiling really can be.
4. Booth (-1)
6-1
The sad thing is if they didn't have the bye, they probably would have been the number 2 team, however the two teams above them proved themselves in a big way. They have been a scary team all year, and I think this rank of 4 should feel disrespectful to them, and they should come out and fire back up to 2. We'll see how they respond, but I would be surprised if they weren't higher next week.
2 3. Bernard/Hastings (+2)
6-2
I made a promise to this team that if they won by 10 I would give them the number two spot in these rankings. They won by 7 after a 13 seconds left garbage three to cut the lead... sorry guys. Realistically they probably are the number 2 team in the league, but I'm a man of word. They did the impossible of playing to their opponents level, but also winning convincingly. They clealry were the the better team, but they kept team Meyers around up until the final minutes. It was the most Team Bernard/Hastings win ever. They've looked great on the fast break and rebounding the basketball, they've just struggled in the half court. I'll tell you what guys, if you beat Teduits/Estes by 5 I'll give you 2.
2. Southwick (+4)
5-3
So throughout this winning streak they've been rising slowly, and despite all of the wins I haven't been sold. Well now I'm convinced. They beat the toughest of their 5 wins in their last one, and now who knows where they'll stop. Elias Jiser is having himself an MVP caliber season, while other players have stepped up as well. They have a game against Majkut to test how long this win streak can really go, but I wouldn't bet against them. If I were to point a flaw in this team it'd be the occasional defensive gaps, but aside from that they've played really well over the past games.
1.Mazni
7-0
By the way I just want y'all to know that last ranking wasn't like a chirp at you guys, it was a genuine display of respect in my own weird way. This team is in a tier of their own and could very well finish the year undefeated. Like really I guarantee it, like there is a 0% they lose a single game this year. There is no scenario that exists where they lose even once. No pressure guys.
13. McNamara (-1)
1-6
The good news for them is they didn't play that bad. In fact they were the better team in the first half of their last game. Their issue has been consistency, and it showed at the end of the game last week. Baller of the Week 8
Winner: Max Phonard - 22 Points and led Team Gingras to their first win
Runner up: Alex Sellers - 24 Points and at least 15 rebounds. Easily would have won if Max didn't lead his team to their first win.
Honorable Mentions: Kasey Griffiths -6 21 points and an absolute paint dominance.
Jake Scharn - 20 points and should have had a game winner.
Kyle Plausse - 20 Points, but what's new for him.
Eddie Hastings - 19 Points, and vast amounts of hustle.
David Meyers - 17 Points and really stepped up in the absence of a key player.
Garrett Solomon - Forget the points, he shared the ball amazingly and hit a crazy buzzer beater to give his team a much needed win
Andrew Berube - 19 Points and one of the best moves of the year, just didn't FINISH THE LAYUP. Just kidding Berbs you know I chirp with love.
Secondary honorable mentions:
Lots of guys really balled out this week, these performances still deserve praise as they would have been honorable mentions most other weeks, they just didn't play to the tier of the other 8.
Drew Stone - 16 points, total floor general
Kyle Luchford 15 points and 5/7 I believe from 3.
Elias Jiser: 16 points and played a big role and taking down a top team.
Bradley TeDuits - 14 points and looked solid as usual on the defensive end

Week 8 Results
Just a side note I was 5-0 in my predictions before the last game... thanks Southwick. Anyway here they are
Manzi vs. O'Wiley
55-36
BREAKING NEWS: Mazni wins again. Shocker. I'm surprised it was even that close. No disrespect to team O'Wiley, they had 5 guys and neither of them were Sam or Tristan, so this game was pretty much decided at tip off. Manzi continues its dominance well O'Wiley finds themselves in an interesting spot.
Zolomon vs. Hecht
55-54
Yes even though Hecht lost I refuse to put them in red type. They played a spectacular even without Matt Carroll. With 7 seconds left Jake Scharn hit a crazy fall away jumper to put them up by 1. Then Garrett Solomon stormed back down the court with 5 seconds left to hit an impossible floater to win at the buzzer. Team Hecht cannot beat themselves up as they played a truly amazing game. As for Team Zolomon they really bounced back after some tough games and looked lethal. This game without a doubt is the game of the year up to this point.
Meyers vs. Bernard/Hastings
48-41
I promised them if they won by 10 I would put them at the number 2 spot in the power rankings, they lost their 10 point lead with 13 seconds off a meaningless three. Meyers proved they were playing around and got it to 4 with 3 minutes, but a thundering run by Bernard/Hastings iced it. Both teams played solid and Alex Bushnell would have made this game far more interesting.
Gingras vs. McNamara
47-35
AYYYE Welcome to win column Team Gingras. It's about time this team was too good to be winless. The score doesn't tell the whole story, McNamara hit some big shots and kept it close to about 3 minutes left in the game. Gingras however was just too hungry for the win, and exploded to finish the game. Both teams played solid, but Gingras was finally able to pull it off.
TeDuits/Estes vs. Southwick
37-35
Wow... this was surprising. I wasn't able to see this game as I was intern coaching, but it seems it was quite the game. The game was 37-35 with about 2 minutes left and there was no scoring from there on out. Both teams played great defensively but seemed to have offensive struggles. Big win for Southwick has they are now riding a league high tie for 5 straight wins.
Majkut vs. Strauss
48-44
Big props to Team Majkut, as they battled with only 6 players all of which not named Riley Curran. Intern coach Will Zimmon really seemed to give this team a spark, and received only positive feedback. Majkut put to rest some earlier doubts I had about them, and shoutout to Ben for making some big time shots at the end of the game. Team Strauss didn't play their best which is scary because they looked really solid anyway. It proves that when the hockey players show up this team is for real.
Manzi vs. O'Wiley
55-36
BREAKING NEWS: Mazni wins again. Shocker. I'm surprised it was even that close. No disrespect to team O'Wiley, they had 5 guys and neither of them were Sam or Tristan, so this game was pretty much decided at tip off.
Week 8 Predictions
Surprise Y'all, I was looking back at the earlier blog posts and realized that I haven't done these since week 4ish. That's totally my bad and here they are just in time so no one can see them before the games
O'Wiley vs. Manzi
61-37
Team Manzi has proved to be unstoppable, and I don't think this stops in the near future. O'Wiley didn't look all to great last week, and coming back to Team Mazni isn't exactly an ideal thing. I see this one being virtually decided at halftime, and coasted through the rest of the game.
Zolomon vs. Hecht
67-43
Team Zolomon is in a huge slide at the moment. Their bye came at the perfect time, and I think they make a statement with a big time win. This team is capable of scoring and even though they haven't shown it, there's a turnaround sure to come.
Gingras vs. McNamara
43-34
This one can go either way as both teams are coming off solid weeks. I give the edge to Gingras, due to the possibly return of Justin Kav... yeah I'm not going even going to try. Gingras has had defensive struggles and McNamara has had offensive struggles so whoever can overcoming their achilles heel will come out victorious.
Bernard/Hastings vs. Meyers
45-41
Both teams are significantly better in the second half. So after a 6-2 first half, I think Bernard and Meyers will absolutely ball out. Bernard always plays to their opponent, and Meyers is playing with probably the most heart in the league so this will be a good one to watch.
Majkut vs. Strauss
52-33
These are two teams with completely different identities. We have one squad with ideal team chemistry, and another with more inside problems than the Cavaliers. I think Strauss will have no problem taking advantage of this team, and it'll be easy.
Southwick vs. Teduits/Estes
48-40
So this is where the win streak dies. I think both teams will play very solid. but Teduits/Estes will win fairly comfortably. Both teams are trending way upwards, but I think the defensive force and new found offensive firepower of Teduits/Estes will be too much for Southwick to handle.
O'Wiley vs. Manzi
61-37
Team Manzi has proved to be unstoppable, and I don't think this stops in the near future. O'Wiley didn't look all to great last week, and coming back to Team Mazni isn't exactly an ideal thing. I see this one being virtually decided at halftime, and coasted through the rest of the game.

Week 8 Power Rankings
Week 8 Power Rankings
Hey y'all sorry for the delay let's dive right in.
13. Hecht (-3)
2-5
Let me just say this is the hardest rankings I've ever had to do. All of the teams towards the bottom played incredible and this isn't the exception. They played a heck of a game and don't deserve to drop three spots. The only reason they do is because the teams just above them played probably their best they have all season. Jake Scharn is starting to prove himself in a big way dominating on both sides of the ball, while the defense looks menacing. Their press proved to be a difference maker and if they get a few more shots to fall they will be lethal. This is easily the best 13 ranked team I've ever had to rank. Don't take it as the bottom, take it as a guarantee to go up next week.
12. McNamara (+1)
1-5
This team easily played the best game they have so far. This is another team that played great, but didn't get a chance to move up. They played a really good right down to the wire and despite the 5 loss, it was a closer then it seems. They played really solid on the defensive end, and rebounded really well. Their only outlying issue is on the offensive end. They haven't scored over 45 points the entire season. I see hope for them for the first time in a while, and if they can play at the same level they did this week, they will head back to their winning ways. The loss stung because they played really solid, but for now they sit next to the back.
11. Meyers (+1)
0-6
This is another example of team playing their best game all season, should be ranked higher, but won't be because so many other teams played their best too. I gave team 11 the edge due to more consistency throughout their game, but that being said I've never seen a team come out with more fire than they did in the last three minutes. They did exactly what you wanted them to do, hit shots and when they missed, got to the line. It was a sight to see, and if they were able to play like that for the whole game, they'd be the best team in the league straight up. I see a lot of potential for a rise for this team and I think next week they have a chance to give Bernard a run for their money.
10. Gingras (+3)
0-6
And.... this is team number FOUR who played fantastic, but just wasn't able to grind out a win. They really outplayed their opponent until 10 minutes left, and battled back really well. This team showed heart despite not having a star player for possibly the season. They played their best team basketball they have all season, and now they're trending in the right direction. They played a really hot team really tough and now have a very real chance of picking up their first win next week against team McNamara. They have been playing a lot better than their record is showing, and I think this game will mark a turnaround for them despite the loss.
9. Majkut (-5)
4-3
I'm not ranking them this low due to their game last week. Despite being the 1/12 teams that didn't play good last week, it not solely because of the game. I understand they only had 4.5 players, and they played the best team in the league. They are down here for two reasons. 1. Lack of dedication. Two of their key players, seem uncommitted, and I wouldn't be surprised not to see two big time players for this team not show up for the rest of the season. 2. Locker room problems, There have been reports that a few key players are starting to feel uncertain about the teams future, and there is a divide within the locker room. The last time I dropped them, they blew out the number 2 team, now... let's see.
8. Zolomon (+1)
3-3
It's kind of nice not playing and moving up one spot. I don't what to make of this team, and the bye came at the perfect time for them as maybe they can get their season back on track after they began to spiral. Next week they have a matchup against Team Hecht which will make or break their season. This is a big wait and see game.
7. O'Wiley (-1)
3-3
I know I said only one team played bad, but they really didn't have their best game either. They allowed a team they were beating to absolutely take control, and they seemed lost against the press. I will give them credit where credit is due though, despite a furious team Hecht run, they were able to battle back and come away with a win. This team is just hot and cold and are capable of playing top teams really tough, but also sometimes they are cold and can blown out by anyone. Depending on which O'Wiley team shows up they can be dangerous, and if they play their best they will climb, but if they play like this... well....
6. Southwick (+1)
4-3
After starting 0-3 this team has stormed back to a winning record, and have been playing solid. They played a solid 30 minutes and just kind of collapsed in the last two minutes of their last one. They are proving each and every week that they should move up. Last week wasn't the best of their winning streak, however they still did exactly what they had to do. If they can without Elias going crazy that is a really good sign. Their second half of the season will rely primarily on shooting, which they live and die with. Overall I think they can rise up, but they need to play a little more consistently before they crack the top 5.
5. Bernard/Hastings (-)
5-2
So funny story with this team. Initially I planned on ranking them lower, because they played a weak first half, but strong second. They didn't play great, and dropping to play at a winless teams level wasn't ideal. Then after some urging from some members from the roster they wanted to go up. This seemed fair since they are winners of 4 straight. So I decided since there are pros and cons to this team I just kept them stationary. Next week they play a winless Meyers team, so if they play down to their level, I'm not moving them up even if they do win. However if they win convincing they will skyrocket up these rankings.
4. Strauss (-1)
4-3
I have a soft spot for this team, and I'm not really sure why. Yes they lost and their record isn't anything flashy, but I think it's because they are the only team in the league to play 7 strong games at a high level. They battled team TeDuits/Estes and it took a crazy effort to take them down. They battled through their whole game, and even though they weren't able to win, they still proved they can play. They play a great brand of team basketball and they keep themselves in every game they play. 4-3 doesn't at all describe their success this year, they're playing like a 6-1 team, so this loss is really just a number.
3. Booth (-1)
6-1
Time for a little good news bad news. The good news is, they got a win and maintain in control of a top two spot in this league. The bad news, they played one of their uglier games of the season. Where was the offense? 35 points? Not overwhelming. Also this team is built behind rebounding, and yes they still rebounded solid, but it wasn't abundant like it usually is. They only dropped a single spot, and I think this is more of fluke than a tell of their season, however if they continue to play like this they won't keep a threshold on this second place for too much longer.
2. TeDuits/Estes (+6)
3-3
Woah... This is a little surprising. This is the biggest mover of the week, stunningly, they jumped higher than Majkut dropped. Well y'all earned it. They played the best basketball they've played all year, and showed they are the real deal. They kept things tight with a really tough team, and held off all of their fire power. They looked elite on both sides of the ball, and looked like they were out their trying to prove something. This is the first time, we got to see them fully utilize their whole roster to the fullest, and they delivered. Was it a fluke? It's possible, but coaches Teduits and Estes know how to get a team hot as they proved last year, and we could see a big run from them coming up real soon.
1. Manzi
6-0

Week 7 Results
Southwick vs. Meyers
45-41
What a game... This game was 40-30 with about three minutes, but Meyers stormed back with a furious rally to put them with within one. They had a chance to even take a lead but Southwick wouldn't budge. They iced it with an Elias Jiser three, but man what an effort for team Meyers.
Booth vs. McNamara
35-30
Maybe the surprise of the early window team McNamara put up a heck of fight against one of the top teams Booth. This was a close game all throughout, and I believe it was a one point with about two minutes to go. Booth was able to hold on, but McNamara proved they shouldn't be slept on.
Majkut vs. Manzi
49-23
There were 5 really close and competitive games this week. This was the other game. I mean the story was told from the start. Majkut only had 4.5 players (Justin Mayer was sick and looked sick), and missing some really key guys. On the other hand Manzi is already one of the best teams in the league. This was just a blowout start to finish.
Bernard/Hastings vs. Gingras
41-38
Another heartbreaking game, after an amazing effort by a struggling team. This game was close all the way through and Gingras took a lead into the half, then Bernard came out firing in the second half, and took a 8 point lead. Team Gingras then chipped away and got the ball back with 4 seconds left in a one possession game. They weren't able to get a shot off, but it was a heck of an effort by team Gingras never the less.
Strauss vs. TeDuits/Estes
51-50
Now we had five very close games, in fact 5 finishes within 5 points, but this one was the closest as a whole. I think aside from a 5 point lead for Strauss that was 7-2, it never went past 4 for either side. I would estimate about 12-15 lead changes in this game, and both teams really proved themselves. It was a battle and Teduits/Estes was just able to pull away.
Hecht vs. O'Wiley
38-36
Scharnsanity is real. This game was a blowout about midway through the second half, and Jake Scharn just decided to go crazy. He was the offensive catalyst this team needed, and the press on defensive was lethal. After being down 12 Hecht was able to pull a 31-30 lead, but O'Wiley battled it back and won it.

Comparing Every Team to a Fast Food Franchise
Fair warning this one was hard, and definitely very opinionated sooo anyway here we go.
Booth - 5 Guys: That one place that sort of gets slept on for no good reason, always great and when you leave you're like, I'm going to start going here more often.
Zolomon - Buffalo Wild Wings: It can be really good or just flat out bad, all depends on how hard the chef is trying. Usually better the first few times you go then after it starts to lose its magic
O'Wiley - Chipotle: Absolute fire when they have everything, but occasionally they're out of guac (Sam Budreau) and it just isn't as good.
Bernard/Hastings - Chili's: It's always exactly what you want it to be, no more no less, simply satisfying, and usually pretty enjoyable.
TeDuits/Estes - Subway: It's real nice, and you know exactly what you're getting. You'll never leave overwhelmed, but you'll never leave dissatisfied.
Manzi - Chick fil a - I'll let you know when I have a complaint, because I never have not even once. Always consistently good.
Strauss - Popeyes: Not really what'd you expecting and surprisingly really good.
Majkut - In-N-Out: Really really good just a tad bit overrated.
Meyers - Burger King: Looks like it'll be good but then you leave wishing you got McDonalds instead
Gingras - Taco Bell: You go in week by week, you think to yourself it wasn't great, but I'm sure it'll be better next time, then next time you go the result is the same.
McNamara - Pizza Hut: It's ok, but with all the other fast food options it's a choice I would never make.
Hecht - Dunkin Donuts: We're looking at the food not the coffee, sometimes it can be great and exactly what you need, then sometimes it just isn't good at all.
Southwick - Panda Express: When it's good it's good, but when it's bad you just never want to wat there again. It's good about 50% of the time.
Power Rankings
Week 7 Power Rankings
Keep in mind I just watched my team lose a nail biter in football, so these may be slightly more aggressive than usual
13. Gingras (-2)
0-5
To be fair they only had 5 players so I didn't really want to drop them all the way to the bottom, but they are one of two winless teams. I didn't get to see their game, however losing by 16 to a team without one of their best players isn't exactly ideal. I still think there's potential for turnaround, and I think it'll actually come sooner rather than later. They just need to start utilizing their strength as a big team on the boards, and play with more chemistry. The more they play as a team the farther they will go, and hopefully they will figure it out soon. because despite the ranking at 13 I can say for certain they don't have the 13th ranked roster.
12. Meyers (-)
0-5
Really hard team to rank especially after this week. It's not like they were an absolute dominant powerhouse for the brief period they had Joey, but they looked real good. They looked like a team ready to contend and a team ready to rise up the ranks, then in one really sad moment it all went away. As for team Meyers things weren't going great before this game and after a nice little ray of hope, I don't see it getting much better from here. They still have some solid pieces to work with and I wouldn't say it's completely over for them, because they do have some very solid pieces but overall things aren't looking all that great.
ideal
11. McNamara (+2)
1-4
I'm just going to say this might be luckiest rise of two spots on this power rankings I think I've ever seen. The only reason they're not 13 is due to the 1 in the win column instead of the 0. I don't do these rankings entirely based record, but I can't put a winless team through seven weeks above a team that has won. They lost today to a team with 4 players and four guards when they added their 5th man. That's not exactly ideal. This team needs to find some sort of identity or edge to get them through each game because not only have they been losing lately but they haven't been all that competitive either.
10. Hecht (-5)
2-4
For a second there things looked really good this team. They were playing great for two weeks then out of nowhere the play looked more like the first two weeks. I still think they can play and I think there's a lot of hope for them. Maybe it's just one of those things where they play alternate playing good and bad in two week increments. I don't know this team is confusing. All of the pieces are there and we have seen flashes of them playing their best and they look good doing it, but for now they haven't looked great. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks and see if they can find that same level of play they brought over weeks 3 and 4.
9. Zolomon (-3)
3-3
After a crazy start this team has settled back to Earth. The main issue with this team is the lack of dedication. They thrive on the fast break, but it's hard to run the fast break when you only 5 players. They are still undefeated when they have more than 8 players show up, but 1-3 in the last 4 with 6 6 5 and 4 players. When the whole squad shows up they play really well, and are capable of beating anyone, and they were missing a star player today, but still there comes a point where it's no longer a fluke where four weeks in row they are missing a lot of kids. There's definitely a lot of hope for this team and they can easily finish top 3 at the end of the season, but until the squad starts showing up and they can play to their strengths they'll sit at the bottom.
8. TeDuits/Estes (+1)
2-3
This is the best team with a losing record in the league hands down. They put up a really good fight against team Manzi today and they've played competitively in all of their games. They only sit at 8 due to their inability to finish these games. They've played the harder portion of their schedule and I expect them to rise over the next couple of weeks. I'm intrigued with their matchup with Bernard/Hastings because both teams play to the level of their opponents. This team could trend upwards or downwards, but if they keep the level of play they have been lately it'll be all uphill from here.
7. Southwick (+2)
3-3
They are on a three game win streak and during that run, they have looked like a completely different team. Elias is playing out of his mind, and has really made a case for MVP. Meanwhile it seems they've found offense outside of the three ball, without relying on three ball, while still knocking down the three ball. It'll be interesting if they can keep this level of play up and if they can, they will be a force in this league. Do I think they will? I'm sorry to be that guy but no. However I've been really wrong on this blog before so feel free to prove me wrong again. For now they've clawed their way back to the middle and could go up or down again just like the start of the season.
6. O'Wiley (+2)
3-2
Isn't it nice having a bye and still moving up two spots. Well things are starting to come together for this team. In the beginning of the season they had some really nice pieces, however between an injury to Jared Smith and Sam Budreau's varsity schedule conflicts, they haven't had them all together. Now they are all coming together and this team is once again looking like the preseason threat we thought they were. They may not have played this week, but they still look like a team on the rise.
5. Bernard/Hastings (+3)
4-2
Despite missing their team today they still were not only able to grind out a win, but they also finally didn't play down to their opponents level, and actually won convincingly. This is good sign because playing up to competition is a good thing, but playing down to competition is never a good sign, and today despite only having 4 guys. The level of competition wasn't all that powerful today, but still to make a statement with only 4 guys is solid. This team is still really an enigma to me and we'll see what they can do next week against Team Gingras. Hopefully for them they can see what a full lineup can do.
4. Majkut (-1)
4-2
Andrew who? They continue to prove that even when one of their star players doesn't show up they can playing. Dropping them a spot seems disrespectful and believe me I struggled to do it. However believe it says a lot more about the teams above them than their play itself. They handled their win today with ease and they play hard week in and week out. Despite a two week hiccup where they looked horrible this team has been nothing but elite. If this team continues this level pf play they will make a run at the title, and I really think they can.
3. Strauss (+1)
5-1
In the pre-season I predicted this team to be the worst in the league. I thought they would improve slowly throughout the season, but not do much else. Well thanks guys for making me looking like an idiot. They have only one loss on the season and it was a close battle with another really solid team. They have played great team basketball and they look amazing on defense that turns into offense. They have a tough schedule with Majkut and Estes in their next two, but they continue to rise and it's hard to see how high their ceiling actually is. This team is unique and I can see them making a serious run at the title.
2. Booth (-)
5-1
I know they played a depleted team Zolomon, but it's not like they barley won or anything. They played great on both sides of the ball and they can rebounded the daylights out of the ball. They are legitimate team and week in and week out they prove it through solid team play. They have a lot of chemistry and they have a strong roster every week because they all show up. They've gotten a lot of the tough games out of the way early and have it fairly easy from here on out. They are a legitimate playoff threat and it'll be exciting to see how the rest of their season pans out.
1. Manzi (-)
6-0
Do I really have to do this? Does this really have to happen? They won as usual, they played well, yes it was competitive, but they got the win. They stand in a tier of their own, and they are the clear cut number one. They play elite on both sides of the ball. Just refer back to week 3 or 4 and you can get the gist of what I want to say here. Until they slip up, or until they almost lose, they'll just stay at one. They're a title contender, and as of now they're the favorite.

Week 6 Results
Mcnamara vs. Stone
56-39
Even with only 4 players team st- Bernard was able to come away with the fairly easy win. The game was fairly competitive going into the half, but after the half Team Bernard really ran away with it.
Hecht vs. Majkut
51-38
Majkut held a fairly comfortable lead throughout the whole game. It never really got close and never really turned into a blowout. They stayed up 10 for roughly the thing. Team Majkut seems to have found their stride again.
Booth vs. Zolomon
53-37
The story for Zolomon this season is simple they are 2-0 when more than 7 players show up and 1-3 with less. Today they only had 4 and they got dominated. No discredit to Team Booth though, they still played a really strong game with great passing and rebounding.
Gingras vs. Southwick
55-41
Don't look now but Team Southwick is on a three game winning streak. I didn't get to see the game but it seems as if the lead was fairly substantial.
Teduits/Estes vs. Manzi
47-41
This was actually a really competitive game for Manzi. It was one score for most of the second half until a thundering run gave Manzi a 9 point lead which was enough for them to hold on to.
Strauss vs. Meyers
60-42
I'm not trying to take anything away from Team Strauss they played amazing, but after the first half team Meyers looked shook and rightfully so. Tough break for Team Meyers and again my best wishes to Joe and his family.

First Things First
Before I get to the results or baller of the week or anything I just want to send best wishes to Joey Femia, he made his rec ball debut today and suffered a gruesome leg injury. Really hard to see a great player and great kid go down like that. We're all hoping for a speedy recovery and hope everything goes well.
