Power Rankings

Week 2 Power Rankings

13 Mcnamara (-3)
This team didn't score at all this week, almost like they didn't even show up. The bye week played lockdown defense and really made it tough of them. Obviously that's a joke and since I have no idea how to rank a team that didn't play I have to put them at the bottom. Don't worry they will rise, it's not like they're down here because they played bad. I like this team roster wise and I'm excited to see them debut next week.

12. Southwick (-4)
In the pre-season I said this team will live and die with the three ball, today they died with the three ball. To be fair the team they played did have an amazing game, however it was ugly game for this team altogether. 33 points isn't terrible, but it's not all that great either. The offense wasn't the underlying issue though it was the defense. Nate and Kasey were getting to the hoop when they felt like it, and they'll need to work on that side of the ball if they want to rise up. I know they'll shoot better in the future and look better than this, but for now they sit at the 12 spot.

11. Hect (+1)
This game doesn't reflect this team at all as they were missing a certain set of brothers that are really essential. That being said they still looked alright. They were winning a close contest for the majority of the time, and yes their opponent was missing some key players too, but you can't totally discredit them. This team has had a history of playing teams really tough, and just coming short. Hopefully that pattern will change. It'll be easier to rate them properly when the DeBinders so show up, but for now 11 is the spot for them.

10. Strauss (+3)
Forget all the freshman chirping I did before, these kids can play. They had the second most chemistry out of anyone today, and they proved themselves more than they possibly could have in my eyes. I expect them to rise more and more week by week, and even 10 may be a little low for them. They had a well fought battle against a good team, and were winning most of the way. The reason they aren't a little higher is because they didn't come through in the clutch. It may be freshman jitters. That being said, there's a lot of potential here to rise and honestly in shock, keep it up y'all.

9. TeDuits/Estes (-6)
I wasn't planning on dropping on them this far because there were a lot of reasons for this loss. Bradley didn't play, and they played a quality team. It's really more about the teams above them than their play itself. They played a good team tough, but after a huge second half run, they just looked demoralized. They moved the ball pretty well, and Jay Fulreader provided a great spark for them. They'll be fine moving forward and should rise up. However until Bradley comes back this team will stay lower on the list.

8. Meyers (+1)
I tried to move this team up more even, as they took my prediction and hurt its feelings. They played a good team really tough and came so close to a win. On the defensive side of the ball they looked great, forcing turnovers, and getting hands in faces, but on offense they turned it over a lot and the ball movement wasn't great. This team really needed a practice, and should continue to climb the ranks. I'll make you guys a deal, I'll keep predicting you guys to get blown out, and then you can keep proving me wrong.

7. O'Wiley (-5)
I expected this team to be number by the end of the day. Well that didn't happen. They were able to get the win, but it was ugly. One play I want to point out was Patrick O'Reilly hitting a tough and-1, falling into the stands next to his grandparents. It was an amazing finish and great moment. All of the other plays however were a lot uglier. Lots of turnovers and some poor defensive play, kind of amazing they were able to come away with a win. On the bright side they came through in the clutch. They were missing a key defender in Tristan Naboicheck and he could be the difference maker for this team.

6. Gingras (+1)
It's really rare that a team puts up 59 points and doesn't come away with a win. They played amazing on the offensive end, and proved they can play. Yes they allowed a league high 70 and it wasn't the best defensive effort, but that being said they were able to hit some big time shots and keep the game in check throughout. They were missing a few key players in Kyle Battles and Avi Jdsnfjslkbfa (sorry I spelled your name wrong, I think I got it this time), I think this team could really be strong moving forward, and with a practice could easily bang out the defensive kinks.

5.Booth (+6)
This is another team that really surprised me. They played a really good game of basketball and were able to come through in the clutch. They played hard defense and held the star studded freshman team in check. This is a team that can sneak up on people as the chemistry was really evident. I really what I saw on the glass and they shot pretty well from deep too. Even though they were only able to put up 40 points, they still played a great game and should continue to trend upwards throughout the season.

4. Bernard/Hastings (+2)
This was just a scrimmage for this team. They were tough to grade because three core players were missing, however for the one's that did show up, they looked great. Drew Stone had a standout performance, and when they have Karuri they'll have elite guard play. They only were able to put up 37, but again 3 big missed players, and they played amazing on the defensive end. Overall these rookie coaches (even though only one was there) really proved themselves today and they could even continue to rise a little more.

3. Majkut (-2)
Let me just say this says so much more about the teams above them than the 3 itself. They played to keep the number one spot, it's just margin between 1-2-3 is razor and I gave the edge to the other two teams because of margin. Shoutout to this team for taking my speed comment and making look like an idiot. They ran hard and looked skilled doing it. They had a great run to start the second half that no team could have stopped. If they can play this well this consistently, they will be right back in that number 1 spot.

2. Zolomon (+3)
I thought team Manzi would lead the way in scoring by a longshot after scoring 61, then Zolomon played one of the best offensive basketball game I've ever been a part of. The ball movement was straight out of San Antonio, and the fast break offense was unstoppable. Remember I said earlier that a team had the second most chemistry, this one had the most. They looked like they were in midseason form right from the get go, and they had 5 players who hit a three today. The three point shooting was top tier as well. The only reason they're not number 1 is the 59 on other end, but practice will fix that no problem.

1. Manzi (+3)
So that was a blowout... and this team looks unstoppable. On both sides of the ball they played great basketball, and I was really impressed, no alarmed about how solid they were. They were able to penetrate the paint like it was their job and they shot the daylight out of the ball from the arc. They showed great balance and were able to be elite on both sides of the ball. Next week will be a big test for them as they will play a better team. Overall though this team played lights out and they deserve the number one spot.
