Game Picks: Week 8

Well, we're down to the final week of the regular season, where has the time gone? Anyway, I'll have the playoff seeds and schedule up as soon as I receive it-- the drawing will be taking place after the Hegeman/Dawson game on Saturday. Make sure to take note of the location and time of each game, as several have been changed from the original schedule. Best of luck to everyone this week, and luckily, I'll see you all in the playoffs!

SATURDAY:

Hegeman (3-4) vs. Dawson (5-2) @ LA -- 9:20am

Team Dawson has been rolling along with a five game winning streak, and Team Hegeman is coming off a hard fought victory over an improved Team Dion. Anthony Cotoni will be a hard cover for Team Dawson with his size and penetrating ability, so expect him to have a big game. However, the chemistry of Team Dawson has been evident throughout their hot streak, and it should lead them to victory over a the one-man Cotoni attack.
Dawson 46 Hegeman 43

Fotino (4-3) vs. Jarboe (5-2) @ LA -- 10:40am

In one of the better matchups on paper this weekend, the real story will come from Steve Fotino, and whether or not he can contain Zack Dhionis inside. Team Fotino will be without Mike Fotino, so they will really have to rely on Shane O'Malley to shoulder a large portion of the scoring load. Look for Will Lamy and Kyle DeLuca to play well and pull out a close one.
Jarboe 53 Fotino 52

MacLeod (2-5) vs. Debreceni (5-2) @ LA -- 10:40am

Team MacLeod has really been struggling as of late, and in contrast, Team Debreceni has been on fire. Not too much to say about this one as each team's trend should continue this week, and Team Debreceni should pull it out fairly easily.
Debreceni 64 MacLeod 50

SUNDAY:

Bailey (1-6) vs. Smith (4-3) @ GS -- 8:00am

Team Bailey kept it close for the first 25 minutes of last week's game against Team Debreceni, but a lackluster defensive effort led to a blowout loss. That type of effort isn't going to cut it against Team Smith, which might not be the most talented, but they're always going to give 100%.
Smith 52 Bailey 48

Burke (6-1) vs. Stevens (2-5) @ GS -- 9:20am

This game is a big mismatch on paper, but the aggressive play of Team Stevens should make it interesting. If Team Stevens can prevent one of their patented first half ten point defecits, I think they have a shot-- but in the end I think Team Burke's size will be the determining factor in what would be their seventh consecutive win.
Burke 42 Stevens 39

Calderan (7-0) vs. Lavallee (4-3) @ GS -- 10:40am

Team Lavallee is the only thing that stands between Team Calderan and an undefeated regular season. I'm not sure that is saying too much. Team Lavallee should keep it close in the first half, but unless Team Calderan wants to rest their starters for the playoffs (hey, the Colts did it...), I'd say the 8-0 record is theirs.
Calderan 49 Lavallee 40

Dion (0-7) vs. Wright (1-6) @ MSN -- 10:00am

C'mon Team Dion, you NEED to win this game... sooooo for good luck I'll say you get it done in the end. Barely.
Dion 45 Wright 44

debracini won 76 to 44 and langell had 22 in the first half and 30 overall and charles had a double double with 10 points and 18 assists something the league should start counting

nobody cares langell

Umm first of all I didn't post that first comment and second of all why don't u state your name. BTW nice comment Aaron your funny

Tynan said...

lets be honest ryan we basically let the hills score
we played zero defense the entire second half cause we were already down so much it was worthless
and really, no one likes the hills

Alex said...

Lavallee gets blown out by at least 25

Ryan said...

well thats not our fault that u played zero defense. were not just going to miss wide open lay ups when we have them. we played to win the game. i kno that ur team was missing two key contributors and at half time the game was a lost cause but we gave u guys plenty of chances to make a come back.

Tynan said...

are you kidding
there was no chance for a comeback
and i understand you guys scored a ton, i dont care about that
but you cant say that the one of the hills should get baller of the week cause he really didnt have to anything spectacular
nothing baller about him

Ryan said...

well besides the fact that the hills and I sat the first 8 min of the 2nd half. but he did have 18 assists. thats really good. we played really well as a team yesterday. everybody was on there game.

PJ Stevens said...

who counted the 18 assists? i'm not saying you did or didn't get 18 assists, but it seems unlikely. Seeing as you played 5/9 of the game, with even playing time, then that would mean 5/9 of the points, which would be 42 points. i would say 4 of those came on free thows, so thats down to 38 points. so that means you would have to have assisted every basket but one while you where on the floor, assuming they were all 2 point baskets-- which likely isn't the case (2pts/basketx 18assists= 36points). so all i'm saying is that it's super unlikely that someone could get 18 assists in 18 minutes (32x5/9=18). maybe i'm wrong idk... just sayin.

its not a big deal but we only had a total of 7 free throws the entire game where i was 0 for 1 and charles was 3 for 4. we only had 3 points off of free throws. (phil dubay 0 for 2 i believe maybe 1 for 2)charles had about 3/4 of the assists of my points. which i would say was 10 assists to my 14 baskets give or take 2 assists and then all the other baskets by our team was about 8 more assists for him. maybe some went to coleman but charles did have well over 15 assists. i dont kno who stated the original comment with all the stats, that wasn't me though. P.S. why did aaron say no one cares about the stats, i believe that P.J. says please feel free to leave any stats in the comment section!

Charles said...

I don't know who wrote that first comment and I don't care. Stats don't matter, the only thing that does is the win. And by the way, team Macleod pressed the entire second half so don't tell me that bs because team macloed was trying. And if tynan wants to say no one likes us,fine. If he needs to complain about everything, why don't you write that in a diary.

pj i like the way you showed your work. you get an A

Ryan said...

hahaha this is awesome everybody hates our team and thats the way we like it. you have hated since the beginning. we play to win the game so dont give us that "its only rec basketball crap" if you dont play to win, then don't play at all.

PJ Stevens said...

im as into it as you ryan (obviously)... so i like the attitude. and you're right, keep posting the stats. congrats to charles on the feat and nice job by team debreceni on the win. it was a great season for you guys and a fun season for everyone. lets all relax and get ready for the playoffs. good luck to everyone.

Ryan said...

I appreciate it PJ. All i can say is that the playoffs should be very competitive!

Tynan said...

charles is possibly the funniest kid ive ever met
and you cant honestly say we were trying and pressing
half the time i pressed cause i didnt feel like going back over half court

Anonymous said...

lets stop arguing. from wat i see in the scores this week tynan your team lost by 32. so why do you continue going on about it. you lost, get over it! go prove to everybody that u guys are good and knock calderan out of the playoffs

Paul said...

15-18 assists seems a little preposterous as pj proved with his math. also baller of the week shouldnt be a popularity contest, (or else i would win every week) with that being said, tynan theres no need to be mean spirited about it. i hated the hill bros too for the 45 minute game i played them but honestly its just a game you cant base whether or not you like someone by how they play basketball. hill bros arent that bad they play hard no need to hate on them.

Tynan said...

i have nothing against how they play
theyre fine players, just how they go about it ad their attitude is pretty rediculously awful

my point wasnt that one of the hills shouldnt be baller of the week cause i dont like him, it was that he didnt have to do very much to get however many points he did. Baller of the week should be the kid that really plays well, not someone that just had to catch passes from ryan and make layups
and i really dont care that they beat us i knew going into it wed get destroyed
