Final scores from week 4, we're already halfway through the season! At this point I'm 4-2 in picks this week with the MacLeod/Dawson game still to play, it's tomorrow at 10:00 am @ MSN.
Lavallee 31 Wright 23
Fotino 44 Hegeman 41
Stevens 54 Bailey 51
Burke 43 Dion 27
Jarboe 54 Smith 53 (OT)
Calderan 57 Debreceni 55 (2OT)
Dawson 35 MacLeod 34
A couple of notes:
-Jarboe beat Smith on a 3-pointer by Will Lamy with 5 seconds left in overtime, after Aaron Honkonen carried his team to overtime with 21 points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force OT. Great game.
-Debreceni closed a 10 point halftime defecit to force overtime, where Phil Dubay made a basket underneath with 5 seconds left to force OT. At the end of OT a tip by Langell with .6 seconds rolled around the rim and out. Mark Lavallee made a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left in the 2nd overtime and Calderan hung on in the end.
-Stevens trailed by 19 in the first half and took a 10 point lead with 2 minutes to play before Bailey made a valiant comeback attempt that fell just short.
-Hegeman made a comeback attempt that fell just short, Burke pulled away from Dion after a close first half, and Lavallee held Wright to just 23 points.
***I'd also like to point out that Mr. Debreceni put his bench players in for the 2nd overtime, while sitting his top 3 players-- a classy move. Sure, everyone wants to win but this is a rec league and everyone should play equally. Kudos to Mr. Debreceni for doing the right thing, even if it may (or may not) have affected the outcome of the game.***
Overall I would have to say this was the single greatest weekend in rec basketball history in terms of excitement!

in debreacinis game the score keepers didnt count a layup by langell and gave one point to the other team on a phil dubay free throw and mike shea had 7 fouls come on
congrats cauldren team 4 winning. you played hard the whole game and pulled a win on us.cant wait to play u guys again. way 2 b clutch lavalle.
MacLeod v Dawson - What you say?
the scorekeeping was legit and mike shea had 4 fouls so get your head out of your ass
yah debrecenis scorekeepers screwd up in terms of fouls mike shea had 7 with more than 13 min to go in the 2nd half. the score was coreect but the foul situation was absolutely terrible. close and exciting game but it could have been a different game if the scorekeepers were paying attention.
Both my dad and mr. hill said that they counted 7 on mike shea at the end of the game. I also had a talk with shane penney and he thought he had 8. Whatever its over and done with but next time lets pay a little more attention. It was a good game very fun to play but annoying as hell to listen too mmmmmmmm....... (mark and paul)
alright I was watching the jarboe game and aron scored way more than 21 i counted 28
yo me and mark trash talk but at least we can back it up with clutch threes and ot wins. 4-0 baby!!! id also like to say that its good that mr debrecini put in all his players and i respect that, but mr calderan also did that just he didnt put all the subs in at once, i sat the first 2 minutes of OT. just something to think about............FOUR OH. also on the fouls, it doesnt matter we won get over it.
and i respect the hill bros cant wait to play again
yeah i missed the first bit of overtime paul and sorry if it seemed like i was dissing you dad... didn't mean it to sound that way.
Thanx paul
Team Wright sucks. I'm glad I'm gone.
(No name necessary here)
who won sunday's game?
dawson won
no i didnt think that pj sorry. i dont even know why i said that.
looking forward to the new rankings
PJ i know u were keeping the book but i got my self at 31 points and so did my dad. haha i mark down how many i score every shift and i tell my dad to do the same
Yeah theres no way he had 21 he had 14 in the first half and then hit 2 3s to get to 20 and he had a lot of points in the second half to
So aaron has 31....Doug smith probs had like 13.
2 people score 80% of your points, ain't gonna win many games like that
I vote Aaron the most underrated player in all of basketball period. The End. And PJ if you don't raise our team by like at least 5 spots in the rankings, I'll beat you.
